Whoa. That's...nope, that's not good. So despite all their protestations, it IS all about the money. It is all about production costs. Well, not that much of a surprise there, I suppose, but as a writer, it deeply depresses me that a major network like CBS is practically giving up on scripted dramas in favour of reality sh!te that, although may be cheap to make, is intellectually vapid, pointless and ultimately has no long-term value whatsoever. Unless their reality format crashes and burns, this fight just got a whole lot more difficult ( ... )

I think the fact that Numb3rs is doing so well in the ratings right now is a good sign that we're fighting the good fight. I would also hope that advertisers would take that as a hint. We're not going anywhere unless you take our show from us. *nods*

Thanks for this input! :)

Whatever our opinion about reality TV, this is about saving Numb3rs--let's keep it positive. We don't need to slam other programming to get our point across. The value of keeping Numb3rs on the air relates to what Numb3rs is, not what other types of programming are or aren't. (Actually, the colossal and well-pubicized failure of Leno in the 10 p.m. slot at NBC may work to our advantage, since CBS may now be more relunctant to change the type of programming they air in the same timeslot.)

You'll have to excuse me... my statements about reality TV are me being sarcastic (hence the smiley face and the end of one sentence with a question mark.) I didn't actually put that in there so that people would say that to CBS. I know a lot of people around LJ that watch Numb3rs and know that they all have the good sense to do better than that. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

It's all about being positive and getting our show back. My letters have all been cordial and positive, other than saying I won't have any TV to watch if they take away Numb3rs. That's not me being rude, that's me being honest. Numb3rs is the only network TV show that I watch.

I hate waiting. I wish we knew already. *sighs*
