We have a litter box in another box, that way when he goes off the edge it just goes in the second box and not everywhere. Though to be honest, I often find poo just sitting in the middle of my room like he didn't finish or just felt like leaving me a present. We also put newpaper under the litter so he has something to claw at and thinks it's awesome fun. Double box works for my parents too and there is two cats living there. Hope that helps, also maybe put foil or something they don't like where they are currently doing their business and hopefully they go back to the litter box.

It could be a territorial thing if they're growing up and becoming adults now - I have never had two cats myself (other than for short periods of cat sitting) but I have read the advice that if you do you could have two litter boxes - and or place a litter box where they pooped.

Hmm...I'd say territorial situation, combined with the cats' innate desire to be clean!:) I'd suggest using a second litterbox, put it where they pooped, and it'll be used-they'll divide boxes!:)

Definitely territorial. We usually settle it by having different boxes. Either side by side or in separate rooms, depending on the space.

Also, sometimes, those puppy piddle pads can be a lifesaver when put where the cats "prefer" to go when refusing litter boxes.
