All the while, Isabel kept her eyes peeled -- just to be safe. She jumped at the sound of cracking branches and random birds singing and then would laugh at herself for the apparent paranoia.
"Easy, Isabel," she murmured to herself, taking a shortcut through the jungle. "You're gonna give yourself a heart attack."
It didn't help matters that her powers weren't working, but Isabel refused to dwell on that just then. One thing at a time.
After climbing over a large tree trunk, Isabel dusted her hands off. Just up ahead there was a guy. Thinking it would be better to walk in pairs, she called up to him, "Hey! Wait up!"

Glad to see someone, anyone, he raised a hand and waved, indicating that he would wait.
When the girl caught up to him, the panic lessened, but only so.
"Where- where am I?" he asked, eyes dark and shining. He figured she had to be better off than him. She ought to know something.

Hands on her hips, Isabel took a moment to look him over. He was pretty cute, in a little lost puppy dog sort of way. Sharp dresser, wedding ring, crooked kind of smile, goose egg on the head--
"Wait a minute." Taking a step closer to him, Isabel slowly raised a hand to his head but stopped just short of touching him. "You're hurt."

"Yeah. I'm not sure what I did," he admitted. "I just woke up and there wasn't anyone around."
