They call them 'types' here, but it works pretty much the same. Water doesn't do well against lightning or grass. I'm not surprised that earth doesn't work against grass either.

Doesn't size matter? Whether or not there are affinities shouldn't affect them that much, when they're twenty feet tall.

Size doesn't matter at all. Overall strength does, and from what I've seen, that's roughly indicated by level here.
