question: the gospels.

which are the actual names of the books?
"the gospel of", "gospel of", "the gospel according to", "gospel according to", or just "name" is ok? some books of mine have "gospel" written with a capital G, and some don't. what should i do for my essay? D:

Does your copy of the bible have a note explaining what you should use?

Mine is the new king james version, and it uses "according to".

The introductory thing says " Gospel can mean the good news preached by Jesus, or the good news preached about Jesus."

I would use capital G in this case.

my bible is a new revised standard version and it also says "the gospel according to"; however i'm not sure if the article "the" should be included in the title... ?
mine doesn't say anything about the word "gospel", although i found what you just said online, so i'm going to go with a capital G whenever i mention them -- now i'm just unsure about what the actual titles of the books are. i'm writing an essay for biblical studies so i wouldn't want to get this wrong, lol.

Yeah I'd use "the". lol, our language is in love with that word.

thanks, i'm going to use "the" unless i see some other books/sources omitting it. and yeah, lol, english does love that article... there are a lot of italian people studying english that keep using it before every word because they're afraid of missing its proper use!
