I had my DJ tryout for Lucky Cheng's, and it went very well.

I'm in your camp. If the request fits the night, it should be played if you have it. Maybe not right away, but try to work it in. For example, at Sex Dwarf: if somebody requests, say, Michael Jackson or Journey, I tell them in a nice manner that while that is a good request (you may think it sucks but you shouldn't tell them that), I do not have it with me as it does not fit the theme of the night -- and remind them what the theme of the night is. Maybe it is their first time there and they genuinely don't know! At that point, I ask them to think of something else they might like and if I have it and it fits, I go ahead and play it ( ... )

I'm in agreement with playing requests if it fits in with what you are doing. If a person asks for something not within the bounds of what "m playing that night, I make a list of suggestions, and nine times out of ten, they go with one of them.

What does YMMV mean?

and p.s. i hope you get the gig. Having the other dj removed for you to repack the dance floor is an amazing sign...and febuary is soo soon. Let me know as soon as you know. I will promote the heck into it!

You were fantastic; your experience and skill as a DJ really showed through. Both of your sets were high energy and FUN! You played music that was familiar to people It was amazing how the dance floor went from 1 drunken couple to being pretty busy within 20 minutes of your second set.

As for the happy heckler, the only thing more fun than seeing him being asked to leave was seeing him complaining to a beautiful black tranny how *shocking* was to have all these women who had "junk" (his word). I think this dimwit thought the burlesque girls were guys.

What a maroon!

Congrats on having such a great night, can't wait until the next time you DJ.
