CHARACTERS: distinctive_guy and YOU DATE: Dec 05 (Day 22; Afternoon) RATING: Possible swearing? SUMMARY: Eliot's back in the kitchen cooking. Or making food anyway. For once it's not big portions.
Kate had been wandering aimlessly, exploring the area and trying to learn her way around. The sound of movement caught her attention, and she found a kitchen, and a man in the kitchen. A man with food. Food that looked really good. She cleared her throat as she approached him with a smile.
"I have ten bucks in my pocket. It's yours for even half of one of those sandwiches."
It felt good to get back into the natural rhythm of chatting up and joking with attractive females again, enough that he played along.
"Well, ma'am, that's because we're fresh out of suites. Will you accept the economy rooms? You will have only one roommate and entertainment will be provided by blood thirsty monsters."
If Eliot managed to make at least one female laugh freely like that, then his job was done for the day. He chuckled along with her, moving slightly closer as he did so. "You have a nice laugh." He flashed her an easy grin. "Glad I was able to hear it. I'm just sayin', haven't heard many laughs lately."
She noticed the change in proximity and smiled, even as she thought about how not happy Castle would be with the situation. Still, it was fun to flirt with a cute guy, Castle or no Castle. And this Eliot seemed like a nice enough guy, though she got the sense that could change if you crossed him. But as that wasn't on her agenda, he was fine.
"Not many reasons to laugh around here. We have to make the humor any time we can."
"No," he agreed, but wasn't daunted by the topic's sullen undertone. In fact, he was still beaming at her. "Which is why you're right. You're absolutely right, we need to cheer ourselves up whenever we can." Cocking his head to look at her coyly, he added, "Like how you walkin' in here cheered up my day." He let her take that as she will.
"I've been told I am," Eliot replied cheekily as he leaned one arm on the counter behind him. "But it's not everyday a New Yorker tells me my sandwiches can sell for twenty dollars. Don't you think that's worth cheerin' for?"
"Yes, ma'am," he answered, keeping to his southern manners until told otherwise. "Like you said, there's few 'nough things to be happy about here, we must make the best of it. People are gonna have to help one another in that."
"Castle?" Recognition flashed across Eliot's gaze. "Rick Castle, middle aged guy, 'bout 6 feet, short hair, blue eyes?" Other tidbits of information filed in but he ignored it with a smile.
Eliot crossed his arms and indicated to the empty plates on the table with a nod of his head. "The guy came by earlier and took one already... So, Kate," he nodded his head and smiled slightly, "You can enjoy that one fully."
Chuckling softly, he gave her that inviting smile that oftentimes got him dates with the ones he pointed it at. "You know, I'm in here cookin' every so often. You could... come by sometime. If you want." He gestured briefly at the rest of the kitchen. "Usually it's more than sandwiches."
"I have ten bucks in my pocket. It's yours for even half of one of those sandwiches."

"Amen to that."
She put on a haughty voice, sticking her nose in the air like a New York socialite.
"The accommodations are disgracefully lacking, not to mention the bleak scenery."

"Well, I suppose it shall have to do, but I will be reporting this to management."
She broke the act and laughed. It felt good to laugh again.

She looked down at the half sandwich she still had in her hand.
"I should save this for Castle, if you don't mind. He's been complaining about the lack of good food."

She grinned just before she took another bite.
"I have to say I'm glad. I wasn't looking forward to sharing."

"I'll probably take you up on that. So you cook like you make sandwiches? No wonder you're smooth."
Kate had a feeling the confident attitude came from being skilled in many different activities.
