Rusty arrived on time, carrying a bottle of wine and a single white rose.

He knocked on Sarah's door, pleased that they were having another date.

Sarah took a last survey of the room, wiped lipstick off her teeth in the mirror, and went to open the door. "Rusty, come in," she smiled. "It's good to see you again."

"Likewise," Rusty said, leaning over to kiss her cheek. "This is for you," he said, handing her the rose. "And this is for dinner, if it goes with whatever we're having."

Sarah leaned in to accept the kiss, then took the bottle and read the label. "It should be wonderful with dinner," she said. "I made a chicken stew. I should warn you, I don't really cook, but I found a recipe that promised I couldn't screw it up."

She went to put the flower in some water. "How was your day?"
