Spring break has been fun and all, but it's just not the same without being at the beach, you know? I mean, I don't even have enough money to go to Charleston to see Lisa AND the beach. I was broke as a joke until yesterday. My dad could only give me $10 on monday for food for the entire week and gas if I really, really needed it...it lasted until ( Read more... )

AHH! Y'all are on spring break...I was wondering what Jess was doing online when he should have been at school. Also: I've never been on a budget that tight for groceries, but as a money-conscious college student I can give you the following advice:

1. Wal-Mart may be evil, but they have the best deals. You'll get stuff there for a good deal cheaper than the grocery stores in the area. I've heard Aldi is also good for deals but I've never been.
2. The essentials: bread, peanut butter, water, milk, cereal, pasta. That's all I eat here, really. Occasionally I buy frozen chicken when it's on sale, or hamburger meat--which is wonderfully versatile. Also, hey, Ramen noodles. The chicken kind is the only good kind, but they're like 10/$1. Awesome.

Is this your Nana that works at the credit union? I can't remember if that's what y'all call her. Let me know though; I feel I ought to send her a card, and I can talk to my mom about it.

I <3 you Lauren! Good luck with Trident Tech!

No, it's my dad's mom. I'm pretty sure you've met her before though.

It's harder for me to grocery shop cheaply because of my wheat allergy, but I have been going to WalMart to get groceries and even clothes (they have cuuute capri pants right now) and it's helped out a LOT. Beenie Weenies are even cheaper there! lol

Thanks for the advice!

*love!*
