Greetings, Mayfield.  I do not believe I have made a full, formal introduction yet.  My name is Soranik Natu of the Green Lantern Corps.  I have only been here for slightly under three weeks, but I have received some rather good information about the circumstances of this town and its people and have been adjusting as well as I ( Read more... )

Yes. I represent Sector 1417. Are you familiar with the Corps?

Yes, ma'am!

I'm from earth, and I know the Green Lantern there!

Greetings, Soranik Natu. [he chooses his words carefully from here.]People around town have taken to call me Emperor. I have been here for roughly the same amount of time you have. Which weapons do you train with? I am interested in learning of this 'gun' which seems to have surfaced.

I am trained in hand to hand combat as well as the use of an Oan power ring. Unfortunately, the town has not yet seen fit to return the ring, so for the time being I must fall back upon my martial arts training.

Indeed? What sorts of martial arts are you trained in? [he sounds a lot more interested -- martial arts are a standard part of imperial army curriculum.]

I am unsure of the name of the style my drill instructor teaches, but all new recruits train extensively with him to learn it in the case that they need to defend themselves when they are unable to make use of their rings. I believe it has evolved over time to incorporate the use of many different styles as the Corps has grown and changed over the years.

That said, I welcome the opportunity to learn different methods of combat should I find an appropriate training partner here. I understand the people of Earth have developed many diverse fighting styles according to the different regions they live in.

Ah splendid, another doctor. What is your area of specialty?

saviorofkorugar June 5 2010, 17:03:28 UTC
Neurosurgery, though I have also performed limb replacements, organ transplants, and many different emergency surgical procedures.

Ah! Finally a colleague. I've focused on physiology and biology and was trained by Professor Naomitsu Madaraki. I'm his daughter, Fran, though they have me living under the name Lajoie here.

I'd offer to let you look at my own studies but it seems all my files were left behind when I was brought here.

Ah. A shame, that - though I gather we're all in a similar predicament concerning the loss of our personal effects. In any case, Fran, it's nice to meet you.

It is nice to meet you, Miss Natu.

It is heartening to see honorable soldiers and doctors...though I cannot say I am glad you have been taken from your home.

"Likewise. Are you a warrior yourself, Miss...?"

[Waiting for the name to be filled in.]

Please excuse me, I failed to introduce myself.

I am Saber...and yes, I am a warrior as well.

Glad to see you got the job. Will make life a little easier. Also glad you are already talking with Mr. Crane.

How are you adjusting so far?

[He was friendly this time, all neighborly smiles and all. As far as their time together he did use the bed though he kept to his side of it.

She might also notice he has been sleeping only a little bit each night.]

I'm adjusting as well as can be expected for a place like this. I've already talked with someone who wants to train with me as well. He mentioned wanting to learn how to use a gun, so I was wondering if you would allow the two of us to borrow some of your own firearms for this purpose.

Also, while I can appreciate the necessity of keeping a close watch on events in this town, eventually the lack of sleep will catch up with you. The body can only take so much punishment before it gives out entirely.

You may borrow the gun. I can manage without it.

[Time to grab himself another bow.]

As for my limits, I'm well aware I won't last forever. Still, that's not the goal here. I don't have to last, I just have to outlast the town. I'll keep your words in mind though.

I don't mind sharing the patrolling duties to give you a break once in a while, even if it does mean dealing with fat Russian men in tanks.
