By rigorously applying our criteria, we narrowed down our venue choices to five, in no particular order:

1. The Garden Court Hotel in Palo Alto
2. Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park
3. Elizabeth Gamble Garden in Palo Alto
4. The Cypress Hotel in Cupertino5. and the Women's Club of Palo Alto ( Read more... )

You'll know it when you see it - go with your gut and don't overthink. We got married in Golden Gate Park and I loved it the first time I saw it.

Good luck!

Here Comes The Guide:
http://www.herecomestheguide.com/

can be useful in planning a wedding. Has info on various bay area locations.
A couple different weddings of friends of mine have been heled at the Lucie Stern Community Center in Palo Alto and were quite nice. Just mentioning a local option without knowing your requirements.

Good luck with all the planning!

Went to a wedding reception at the Women's Club and it has a great floor for dancing.

For our wedding, we looked at the Garden Court Hotel and were overwhelmed by the cost (mind you, we were looking for a space that could accommodate >150 people).

Something to consider when you're looking at venues is what is included in the cost. For example, most of the places on that list you'll have to bring in your own caterer. Who provides tables, linens, dishes, silverware? Sometimes this is included in the cost of the venue (like for the Garden Court, I believe) and sometimes they need to be rented separately. Also, ask the sites for their preferred vendor list (they all have one) because they'll not only be familiar with the setup but sometimes have lower costs negotiated.

I second "here comes the guide". I have used it a lot helping various friends search for venues.
