I spent all April writing 20K+ of space colonization/genetic modification J2AU which basically hinges on "the mod". (And, uh, I have totally ignored it for the past 2 months since turning it in, but I had really better get back to it because the final version is due in under a month.) But, wow. I love this type of premise/scenario - I had no idea it was an area of academic study for you - and I really like this pairing fitted into it. :)
