What an incredibly awesome end to the story! More than I love the happy ending I love the way you've used the tragedy to make the happy ending possible. Starfeet has just lost a huge percentage of their cadets and it will be years before they'll recover unless they recognize the unacknowledged class that's right there, under their nose. Brilliant and believable. Thank you so much for this lovely and heart wrenching story.

I want to say something intelligent about the amazingness of this, the parallels you've used, Winona's character, and the way Bones and Jim still do their best to misunderstand each other, but instead I'm just going to sit here for a while and grin goofily at your lovely, finished story. (Then I'll probably go back and reread from the beginning.)
