Wow, they're looking great so far! You are braver than I to attempt jaywalkers as your first pair! I'm knitting my first pair for the Knitting Olympics, and I've chosed the most basic pattern possible! Ha!

I'm already about 5" into the ankle portion, and it's getting hard to get it over the wide part of my heel/foot, so I'm going to start the heel flap now I might have to start over in the larger size if they are still too tight. This yarn has no give at all.

The pooling pattern is swirling, though, and that's really pretty.

Yeah, I think the fact that its superwash makes it less stretchy than regular wool. I think once you finish the heel flap the getting it over the foot thing will be easier, I noticed that with my other pair.
