Шотландия довольно-таки расово однородна, и никакой чрезмерной политкорректности я там не заметил. Так что случай очень странный, на самом деле. И источник лично мне не кажется заслуживающим доверия.

Чёрный кофе - это цвет, почему нельзя вещи называть своими именами? Точно как ящик белого и голубые ели.

Правда ли это - сказать трудно, но вполне может и быть. Это цитировано во многих местах на интернете, вот цитата с конкретным местом в Глазго. Статью по всей видимости сняли, может т.к. уже давно это было.

THE world is going mad in its abuse of political correctness. Staff at the coffee shop in the Mitchell Library in Glasgow last week allegedly refused to serve a customer who had ordered a 'black coffee', claiming that it was a racist phrase - he would only get his cuppa if he used the terminology 'coffee without milk'. I wonder how he managed to ask for white sugar?
