MTA is a municipal agency with about a billion dollars in annual surplus. Their estimated savings from the new pension plan would total about 20 million over the next three years. The city is losing about half a billion per day. Now, can you tell me if the mayor (along with the governor) had any reason to condone MTA's actions that led to a strike?
