Confirmation bias is a phenomenon wherein decision makers have been shown to actively seek out and assign more weight to evidence that confirms their hypothesis, and ignore or underweigh evidence that could disconfirm their hypothesis.

Some have argued that confirmation bias may be the cause of self-perpetuating and self-fulfilling social beliefs

Everyone is, it's science. Our brains are built that way. It helps us perceive patterns and such. Sometimes it just makes us see patterns that aren't really there. :/ So we should be careful and such. I always think everyone should have to learn learn about cognitive biases in high school. Frealz.
