Punk Alliance? plunketrock February 12 2004, 00:40:37 UTC
I'm really hoping that that Punk Alliance thing wasn't your idea because, in reality, it contradicts itself. You're starting this alliance to create a scene that is friendly, and has people coming together to appreciate the music and the ideas that the genre of punk inhabits. But, in turn, you're shutting people out. It seems like you're saying anyone that isn't "punk" or is in a band that isn't strictly punk isn't allowed to go to your shows, which in turn, is basically like having a bunch of shows for the same people. It just doesn't seem like a logical idea, you want everyone to be tight and to have fun.. but you only want certain people involved. I duno, maybe i just don't get it.

exactly, you DONT GET it. just like you DONT GET punk. its ok, its not for everyone, you either clue in or bail out. and we hope to clue in as many people as possible to get them to understand. its really not that hard of a concept, its genious is in its simplicity...

What Brian is saying is that he wants to bring the punk scene together, but in turn, this "alliance" is leaving so many people out. Alienating itself. I'm no punk, i don't claim to be, I won't claim to be, but why create a group with the intention of secluding yourselves? I don't want to get it.

eh, its an open community really...but i figure all the kids who only go to emo shows, and love it because thats what there friends are into and its growing mainstreamy, will not come to our shows, GOOD they want shows where they can come to see the one band they like and leave while sometimes this is ok, not under those circumstances, the truth is if no emo bands are playing our shows that will rid us of half of the dumb fucks in this scene, this alliance isnt just going to be anti0emo either , i dont mind emo, but it can exist somewhere else but at the state of our very local scene, there is no room for any bands of originality, its band after band of cheap imitations and it a lot of kids only come out to here something that has been done over a couple times, and sure im not saying punk hasnt been done over, but in our scene there is no punk rock, were simply trying to even the score here...

I've had it, I must break my silence. (cough couch) Hey kiddo's how r ya doing?, it's your pal, Marky. Now lets start this off by me telling you who i am. I'm not "punk", "emo,"(don't get me started on this word because i hate what people say it means)"hardcore." "prep," or anyother stupid fucking label you wanna give me or yourself. I love how kids around here act like they know what the true meaning to certain type of music are, or what they were and still are all about now a days. Although I will be the 1st to admit that our little "scene" sucks now a days, stop bitching about it. You wanna do something about it, create a bands that will play anyshow, not exclude themself from certain shows due to the type of music the fellow bands they'd play with is different than theres. I remember the days when i was going to shows in fucking 7th grade being the youngest kid there for years and all there was was bands that i believe you want around. Sooner or later this trend going on right now with local bands will change. The trend you ( ... )

this is ridicolous, i dont care if our state is a dying trend or if ive missed out on the punk trend before this one. were not bringing back a fun little trend where we all have leathers and blue hair, we just want to escape the fucking bullshit, im dont want to wait around for this to dye out, when i know there are others out there that are sick of this too, and if we simply organzied and did something wed all be satisified, and AGAIN were only pushing away those who are fake, and only want to be just like everyone else, any scene can have diversity, whether its punk, emo, ska, metal and if you know more about me good, i dont really care. and im not bailing out i'm sticking around, yeah we are bitching but wtf were trying to do something about it, you cant say that were just gonna be whiny bitches who sit at their computers and complain about how bad everything is, because weere going to try and make this work, and that includes getting new bands into it, and i can only hope that more kids will come, the alliance is going to be an ( ... )

good everybody (not just you guys) stop bitching and do something, no talk just do it.

Mohawks were wore by native certain tribs of native americans for the symbolizism of going into war. They would grow there hair inbetween battles and shave a mohawk right before the battle was to take place. After the battle they owuld shave it off and add to a rope showing something along the line of survival or how many battles were won.

My Point: Simply a history lesson

By the way, if i offended anybody, sorry, i'm just giving my 2 cents....

(this took me 20 minutes to try to post due to my fucking livejournal being dumb, i'm pretty sure i'm gettting ride of this thing....blurtys for all?)

the mohawk tribe were all ruthless killers, and as far as mohawks go im guessing some punk in the 70s found about mohawks in that sense and thought they should get one too. oh well in our society- no one gets mohawks before they go to war so its irrelevant what the mative americans did in their culture(sorry native americans, europeans stole your land and now youre not important to majority of our society)
