So a pregnant woman I knew from LLL (breastfeeding meetings) gave birth to her baby in a moving car!! She went into labor and waited for the contractions to be ten minutes apart or whatever. So she and her husband got into their car to go to the maternity hospital. She was in the back seat because the 'all fours' position was most comfortable ( Read more... )

Hahaha!! This is what I get for skimming...your first paragraph was about someone having a baby by the side of the road, then I scanned to your next paragraph where it said 17.83 lbs and I was like "Holy SHIT, that's a huge baby!" Then I read closer and realized you'd switched topics to Sidonie's doctor visit.

Heh.

She'll eat when she's ready. Eventually she'll come to a point where she's just way hungrier than you can keep up with...that happened with Devin REALLY early, like before he was 6 months old. It was kind of depressing, but...eh. You get over it. Especially when you see their cute cereal covered faces the first few times. ;)

Summer vacation? Does a weekend at Lake Michigan count?

Who are these women with these freakish labors? One of my colleagues here had three babies where each time she felt no contractions, then all of a sudden had the urge to push, and pushed her babies out. After I learned that, I decided to disregard her comment about how giving birth was the easy part, and that it was raising the children that is difficult. I'm sorry, but it's hard for me to see birth that involves no pain at all as giving birth. (Is that really harsh?)

Awesome doctor. Paul's doctor never seemed to care one way or the other about breastfeeding, even though he had very definite ideas that small children should not be in day care. (Tough for a guilt-stricken new mom to hear. I only had him in day care three days a week until we went to Mayotte, and then he was cared for at home and I was there much of the time.)

We already did our summer "vacation", which was kind of a disaster. Stéphane swears that he will never again take a car trip. :-(
