That's a really interesting article. I always wondered what would happen if some known pop musician set up in the subway (particularly someone big like Springsteen or the Stones). It'd be a slightly different demographic than a classical violinist, but this was a good look at the question nonetheless.
I know, I keep wondering what I would have done if I had heard him. I mean, I know I would be amazed at his playing but would I actually stop to listen?
What's interesting is that in France there was always a crowd of people standing around great street musicians and I wonder why it's different here. I will never forget one time when an accordionist and an upright bassist were playing in a park in Paris on a Sunday morning and it turned into a full on dance party. Why are we Americans so focused on our daily lives and seem to live in a bubble?
