I had to beat it out of them for about a good hour before they finally caught on today. That's fine. I just wish that they were mature enough to do it right the first time so we could move and start talking about musical things instead of focusing so much on basic, elementary concepts. Oh well. Today was my first real teaching experience. Let me just say that it was reality check. They're good kids. They're just not the best players. It's like I've got the two extremes without a whole lot of wiggle room. We're going to push forward though. We're going to keep a positive attitude and move forward with our goals.

So I was thinking about this whole band camp thing that I'll be starting at Northview High in a couple of days. It was then that I realized something. I have to begin teaching these kids at 8 in the morning and the school is like 40 minutes from my house. These last two days have been absolutely ridiculous. So Sara and I drove to Layfayette, Louisiana to see some drum corps and talk to the folks at Spirit for the very last time this season. So I've been at home for about a week now and I'm bored out of my mind. It's been great to hang out with some of my old friends. Don't get me wrong here, guys. I just forgot how lame normal life is and how little people actually care about the activity even if they know what it is.
