Nursing Story

Jun 22, 2008 00:13

This is for adopt_a_mom. It's about my kids and my bewbs. Pretty much it rambles all over the place and makes very little sense. It was done as a stream of conciousness (or unconciousness?) tonight but, I think it still is mildly interesting for anyone who cares. I will probably edit it tomorrow or the next to make it more readable and coherent.

You know, anyone could breastfeed twins if faced with having to. I think my tale is more of a cautionary on. (Or maybe I have to edit to make that clearer.) I suffered WAY too long with depression and was very mentally ill for a long time. I hope I can mentor someone so they don't have to suffer for no good reason like I did. I missed a lot of happy moments because I was so sad and disturbed. :(

"my milkshake brings all the babies to the yard

LOLOLOL

As for the rest, wow. I'm having a little mama hero worship moment here.

You should seriously try that song. I don't know why it works but my kids go from screaming hellions to laughing, clapping, happy babies in 2.2 seconds. (I think I am going to film it and put it on YouTube because it amuses me so much.)

I actually have never heard that song, although I run into a lot of references to it, such as the following:

I really love how open and honest you are about all this. I'm not a mom (yet! maybe someday!!) but it's very inspirational.

On a disturbing/amusing sidenote: Sometimes when I sit down to nurse the twins I sing "my milkshake brings all the babies to the yard and they're like 'yum yum yum yum'" and I shake my...er...milkshakes at them. They go NUTS. They start dancing, laughing, and clapping. Am I scarring my children for life? y/y

My best friend in the entire world has two kids of her own. Hannah will be three in December and Julie just turned one about a month ago. Julie, unfortunately, has had a lot of complications since birth, including difficulty eating. Eventually, they had to give her a feeding tube. The day Jennifer took her home from that trip to the hospital, all she could sing was, "Plug it in, plug it in...".

wow... I didn't realize how much you went through!

And as for all the pumping... doesn't that also get rid of tons of calories? I plan to pump like crazy when I have kids, even it there's just the one. All of my friends dropped their baby weight pretty quickly and attributed it to breastfeeding.

That's assuming my boobs work properly. Mom's were defective :-)
