Started translating Disc 2 of their BLAST in Hawaii DVD, which consists of a 85+ minute documentary that I highly recommend watching! Unfortunately, due to time constraints and the fact that I really dislike subbing, I am only translating and will not be subbing this file myself. If a subbing team would like to use this transcript to sub their own version, by all means feel free to contact me. :)
Here is the first half, not much of substance but I wanted to post this up first in case I lose it.
Documentary of "BLAST in Hawaii" (1/2)
O: Those concerts... were like a dream, I guess.
N: I'm grateful for it.
M: It really was like a dream.
S: I think that time was really priceless.
A: All I have is gratitude.
ARASHI BLAST in Hawaii
-Document-
M: We're here, we're here!
A: Uwahhh!
S: Was it really like this?
A: Doesn't it feel pretty narrow?
S: Yeah, it does.
O: It's because we got bigger.
A: Us?
S: We couldn't have gotten THAT wide!
M: It's been 15 years, hasn't it? Us being here too.
S: I recall taking pictures but I don't really recall myself actually standing here.
N: Like our memories are based off old footage.
M: That's true.
S: You end up interchanging it.
A: We don't even know where exactly in Hawaii we're at right now.
S: You don't even know if we're in Hawaii?
N: You mean this isn't Hawaii!? We're not in Hawaii?!
M: There's this photo of us sitting here, right?
M: That wasn't actually an official photo, but one of Sho-kun's private photos or something.
S: Ah, was it really?
M: Yeah.
S: So it was something I had? The one I took out for our 10th anniversary?
M: Yeah, that's the one. So I tried looking for it this time, but it wasn't in any of the official stuff at all.
A: Is that so!
M: It was one of Sho-kun's.
S: That moment when one of my pics became an official one, huh.
M: That's pretty much it.
N: From when we debuted.
N: Man...
A: Oh no, it looks like it's gonna rain!
N: It's right above our heads, see.
A: Isn't it raining then?
N: Yeah, it's raining.
A: But the skies are super clear over there...
N: It's okay, it'll let up soon anyway.
M: It's really starting to rain.
N: Who's the culprit!?
M: It's not me.
N: It's not me either.
O: Me neither.
A: Me neither.
S: Me neither.
M: I can even do drama filming on no-prep days and still be fine. It's you, isn't it?
O: No, it didn't rain on me last time either.
S: Maybe having all of us together is the problem.
N: It's not a good thing that storms roll in when we're together.
M: Thanks!
M: We're gonna wear something awesome right now.
M: Hey.
Staff: Ah, that's really close. That's close.
Cameraman: It's very close.
M: Something like, "We're a lot more cheerful now after 15 years!".
A: Can we change poses?
M: Yeah, you can.
Staff: Sorry about the time. Our car is... this is going to be our last.
Cameraman: Got it.
Cameraman: Okay, here we go. Say cheese.
Cameraman: Okay okay! That's good! You can goof off too!
Cameraman: Ah! That's too fast!
Cameraman: That's good!
Cameraman: Don't go over there! Ohno! Ohno! OHNO!!
Staff: It's not out of place at all to wear it even now, huh?
Staff: How nice.
Staff: I kind of want it.
S: Really?
Staff: Yeah.
S: Maybe it has to do with the present timing? I really hated it at the time.
M: I'm only wearing it now because I wore it back then. If you gave this to me now I'd never put it on.
M: This is a tough one.
S: This is tough.
N: The two of you are showing off "Arashi Arashi".
A: Stop, you're gonna make me laugh!
Cameraman: Ohno-san, your hands were like this.
Staff: Matsujun's and Sho-chan's heads are touching.
M: Like this?
Staff: Yes, just like that.
S: If we were going to do this I'd rather we do a proper job of it.
M: Okay? Okay?
Staff: It's okay. Let's move on to the next spot, in these outfits.
A: Did you hurt your neck?
N: He hurt his neck.
O: It happened in a flash.
S: Man, it's amazing to be a 17 year old.
A: It's been ages.
S: I remember eating pineapples... but did we ever come to this place?
S: Didn't we do that in Tokyo?
A: Did we?
A: Then we didn't have to come all the way to Hawaii for this!
Cameraman: Sho-kun, Jun-kun, Aiba-chan, Oh-chan, if you'd please.
Staff: Ninomiya-san, you were a bit livelier in this.
Cameraman: Okay, that's a wrap.
M: Thank you.
S: I crack up when I'm trying to act cool.
M: I just can't seem to act cool.
M: Alright, let's go!
A: Which is it?
A: This one!?
M: It's this one.
A: Was it really like that?
S: Was it really that tiny?
N: But it was small. Wasn't it around this size?
A: We got on this one and then switched to another one?
N: Yeah.
M: Yeah.
M: The normal reaction would be for us to go "That's the one, that's the one!"
A: But I had no clue what was going on.
N: No, let's stop doubting about it.
O: It had to be this.
M: Just to make sure... it's this one, right?
M: Hi!
Crew: Hi.
S: Ahh! I remember this spot!
O: No way!
S: Didn't we, like... transfer from something else?
O: We were on this thing... but I don't remember it one bit.
M: Yeah, I seriously cannot remember anything. Was it really like this?
S: I have a deeper impression of those paper boats we did.
S: So it was this...
M: When you put it that way, I guess...
Staff: How about this?
A: Even looking at this doesn't ring any bells.
S: Maybe it was a different boat?
M: If even seeing that doesn't ring any bells, I bet you're not touched at all.
S: You wanted to be like, "Ahhh! That's the one!", right?
A: Oh wow, this is a great boat!
M: No, Aiba-san, that's not the point.
M: It shouldn't be "this is a great boat", it should be "this takes me back"!
S: Normally, yes.
A: Go on.
A: How is it, captain?
S: You, buy this boat.
O: Shall I?
M: After 15 years, you're going to buy a boat?
A: Just as expected!
A: Without even asking how much it costs!
N: "I'll go with this one".
S: No questions asked.
N: Maybe this was where we got on the boat back then?
M: No, I don't think so.
S: Wasn't it close to Honolulu?
N: Oh, really?
M: Yeah.
M: From what I remember, we departed from Ala Moana.
A: I don't remember at all.
M: There was no way we could have come out this far, no?
N: Rather than remembering this spot, Nino probably remembers the lower level more clearly instead.
N: I remember being down there.
N: I get seasick, so I remember being down there and napping the entire time.
M: But it makes you happy, doesn't it?
A: That's right.
M: It's just coincidence, but it makes you happy to have it here,
M: the actual boat we were on 15 years ago,
M: and getting the chance to ride it again.
A: And for this reason Leader is going to buy it off, aren't you?
O: Yeah, for memory's sake.
N: Just as expected.
S: Wow, Leader.
M: You're so loaded!
O: Stop it, you guys!
O: I remember the spot where we got off this boat and how terrifying it was.
O: So that spot down there where Sho-kun said he remembered it earlier, it was probably really scary transferring from this.
M: Yeah.
N: We did it out in the sea too.
A: Yeah.
O: All of my memories are like that.
S: They're kinda fragmented.
O: Yeah.
Crew: Where are we going?
Staff: How many?
Crew: Ah... three!
S: Oh god, this is so scary!!
M: Well, we didn't understand what was going on, and the mass media folks who came out here didn't know which member was which either.
M: So we were in this boat, parallel to a large passenger boat.
M: "These people are going to be in Arashi, the next group to debut!", they said,
M: But the cameramen were all going "Who's this one?", like, "Who's here? Who's here?" as they took pictures of us. I remember this vividly.
A: Off we go!
S: Off we go!!
M: We're Arashi!!
A: We're going to create a storm around the world!
N: Stop that!
N: That "Arashi" was bigger.
S: I don't remember the drawing in the background at all.
M: I was the one holding up the flag...
M: and when it felt like I was going to topple over, somebody propped me up.
S: I think I was the one who did that.
S: We were yelled at, too.
N: Yup, we hid over here and they were like "WAVE THE FLAG! WAVE THE FLAG!"
M: Wave the flag...
S: They're waving at us! So nice.
A: We're Arashi! That's us!
S: Oh, wow!
A: Remember us?
N: They're waving.
A: It was me!
A: Were you there 15 years ago?
N: They were there 15 years ago too.
M: Ah, we're going to see the setup soon, it's just a little further.
S: Oh we can, even at this distance I can see it.
N: You're kidding me! Where is it?
S: Over there.
A: Ahh, that's the one!
S: The monitor's like...
M: Here comes the monitor.
N: Ahh, you're right!
M: Hehh, we're going to hold our concerts over there.
Crew: Auto-pilot is off.
A: Pirates?
Crew: Auto-pilot is off.
A: Okay! Pirates!
M: From the bottom it's Leader, then me... Aiba-kun, Nino, Sho-kun.
S: I'm pointing?
Staff: You're pointing, yes.
N: Alright, here we go!
Staff: Aiba-chan, you have your hand on Nino's shoulder.
O: No, we don't have a specific leader.
O: At any rate, I'm the oldest of the group, but... well, I'd like to act as the Dance Leader...
Announcer: Ah, Dance Leader!? Do you each have something different?
M: Well, um... maybe comedy...
Announcer: The Comedy Leader!
Announcer: What about you, Aiba-kun?
A: I haven't decided at all either, but... what to do...
A: I'd like to settle on something in the near future.
N: I've been doing quite a lot of dramas, so I have confidence in the aspect of acting.
Announcer: What about you, Sakurai-kun?
S: I've been doing a good job balancing this with school, so I'd like to keep that up in the future too.
Announcer: I see.
Staff: Captain? Captain?
A: He fell asleep.
Staff: The captain's completely out!
A: Captain, let's go back!
S: Captaaain!
N: You're gonna make the boat rock doing all those unnecessary things, stop it!
A: Captain!
N: The captain's not coming over at all!
A: The captain won't come over here!
A: No captain! No captain!
Crew: Grab a line.
A: He's doog. [T/N: he's purposely saying "good" backwards, which is a long running gag in Japan.]
M: He's goooood.
O: He's really doog.
N: It's because he's good that he's doing the driving.
A: No wonder we hired him.
N: I told you, we didn't hire him!
N: He owns his own boat, no?
Crew: Okay, here we go.
M: Thank you!
N: Thank you.
A: Thank you, captain!
M: I hope we can get there soon because I want to see the sunset.
S: We have a segment that overlaps with the sunset, so we need to see if we can match it up perfectly, right?
M: Yeah.
M: I want it to match up but it's not going very well at the moment. What the heck!
A: When does it look the prettiest, I wonder?
M: Well, most likely from this point on. It would look pretty if only we had more sun.
A: Would it look prettier and prettier?
O: But this is nice.
M: It's nice, isn't it? This feel.
O: It's super pretty.
A: It's super pretty.
N: Yeah.
S: On the other hand, it's kind of incredible that they built something like this.
O: Ooh, pretty! It's really pretty.
O: Wow...
S: There's a lot of dust clouds, they said. "Please put masks on."
M: Good morniiiing.
S: One two... Hello everyone. Good evening, we are Arashi. Please treat us well.
M: Can you focus all the lights on that spot where that trolley is for a moment?
Staff: Can you go all the way to the boat?
M: Weren't you going to put lights in there or something?
Staff: That's about what it would look like.
M: I think it's totally fine that way, but it's definitely better to have a bit more light.
Staff: We haven't built that far yet.
Staff: Right, in actuality the inner set is going to lower you down.
Staff: It was very beautiful.
N: We weren't in a pentagon formation just now, right?
Staff: No you weren't, but it looks that way.
S: It feels kinda vast, like 360 degrees all around.
N: Yeah.
S: How was it?
Staff: It was very beautiful.
S: Should we just go with this, then?
A: Let's go with this.
S: Based on vibe.
Staff: Yes, based on vibe. On feeling.
S: 'kay.
A: We can't go wrong.
Staff: Hahaha!
A: Not with vibes!
O: Three, two, one, go!
A: Here I go. Three, two, one, go!
N: You won't be able to do that tomorrow!
M: Leader, try taking one step forward.
Staff: Now, the center...
M: Sorry, can I get you to do the last one?
M: And you're kinda walking over here. Yes.
S: We're walking?
N: We're splitting up.
M: Have we decided on the timing for the lift-up?
Staff: You're going up when you start singing on the outer square.
M: Thank you very much for building this wonderful stage in such a short amount of time.
Staff: Thank you very much for building this wonderful stage in such a short time. Amount of time.
M: We'll do our best, so please lend us a hand.
Staff: We'll do our best, so please help us.
M: Aiba-san needs to get himself to a pool, you see.
N: Let us hurry!
A: I'm going to the pool!
S: Time's up.
Staff: Alright, rehearsals are over for the day. Thank you very much.
O: It was pretty refreshing, wasn't it?
O: Having it outdoors too... we rarely get a chance to do stuff outdoors.
N: No, what he wants to know is what issues do you foresee after the run-through.
O: Issues?
A: Oh, it's filming him.
O: I don't know yet.
N: Ahahaha! That's what I figured.
A: There isn't any! Right?
O: I'll think about it after the audience starts showing up.
S: We've done this before with our Asia tours in 2006 and 2008 as well, so it feels like it's been a long while.
S: Having a concert in a foreign country.
S: I was cool just now, right?
A: You seemed like a foreign talent. [T/N: 外タレ is a term commonly used for foreign talents who focus most of their activity in Japan.]
S: It's been a while since I went overseas.
N: Because he's a foreign talent.
A: A foreign talent!
All: Thanks for all your work!
Interviewer: Thank you for your work!
S: Matsumoto-kun is still in a meeting.
S: Please go and interview Matsumoto-kun.
M: There's supposed to be a move that we do in time to those trees, but we're moving differently here.
A: Morning.
N: Morning.
M: The second day.
Interviewer: Aloha!
S: Sorry for the wait!
M: It's starting to rain!
Interviewer: It's not a storm so it's okay.
S: Things that happen to Arashi.
A: It still feels pretty good right now.
M: This applies to the Hawaiian locals as well, but it feels like we've been welcomed with open arms. Even people on the street would say "welcome" to us. It makes us very happy.
M: There are flags out there, they have buses running, buses with Arashi's name on them. And fans wearing Arashi T-shirts.
M: Coming to Hawaii has turned into something huge.
A: It really feels like we're right at home, somehow.
Interviewer: Have you taken a look at the streets yet?
A: Yes, but in the car, we saw it from our car.
N: Even then, we could tell.
Interviewer: September 19th has been designated as "ARASHI DAY"...
A: You found out? You found out?
N: Of course they'd notice.
Interviewer: Congratulations!
All: Thank you very much.
S: It's a huge honor, it really is. They don't usually reserve a day and crown it with the name of our group like that...
S: Well, we're holding concerts on both the 19th and the 20th, but we hope to do our best over these two days in order to not sully that title.
O: I think you can easily see ourselves over the past 15 years. Though we probably won't have that same awkward feeling that we had 15 years back.
M: You're motivated now, right?
O: I am now, yes.
O: Not at the time, unfortunately.
O: It'll be alright.
Interviewer: We're looking forward to it.
All: Yes. Thank you very much!
A: Thank you very much! Sorry about the rain.
S: The rain... Sorry about the rain.
S: Shall we pass these back to you?
A: But we don't know which belongs to whom anymore...
Cameraman: Can you look this way, please? Thank you! Thank you very much!
Cameraman: Lastly, look straight ahead!
Cameraman: Okay, 5 more shots! Alright, thank you very much!
S: What's that for again?
Staff: Photos to be displayed during the ending credits.
Staff: Just do a big bold pose.
M: Like peace and greetings?
M: None of that stuff you don't usually do.
Cameraman: It's going to be about this size.
M: Okay.
Cameraman: Now we're taking doubles.
M: Okay.
A: Got it!
Staff: Let's have all of you doing the same thing.
Cameraman: Alright, cheese!
All: Aloha!!
Cameraman: One more time, let's do one more shot.
Cameraman: Alright, cheese!
M: From that side? From this side?
A: He's not finished yet.
S: Just taking a stock photo.
S: Gotta send it to everyone.
S: Is it me?
M: Nice to meet you!
S: You too, Nino. Okay, cheese!
M: It's a pretty short time frame, so either we go with that sort of speedy feel, or we do it a bit earlier, take our time getting off and form a line at the end.
S: Then it's better for us to come out a bit earlier.
Interviewer: You're not afraid when it comes to modes of transportation?
S: Yeah, I'm pretty okay with helicopters.
S: I wonder why.
Interviewer: Will you be fishing in Hawaii?
O: I will.
Interviewer: You will?
O: I'll find a way.
O: I won't be going anywhere.
N: You won't be going anywhere but you're going fishing...?
N: Then naturally you won't be going.
Staff: Then, "Are you ready?".
Staff: It's a very short walk so you need to wait for four beats or else we won't be able to go around.
M: And, erm, we'll be getting our microphones near that tent.
N: I heard about that.
Staff: If you please.
N: I'm telling you to explain to me clearly what they were saying just now.
O: At any rate, we have to do it all over again...
N: J said it just now...
O: I won't know until I do it several times.
N: What do you mean, you won't know until you do it several times?
N: It's what J said just now...
M: Nino.
N: Yes!
O: He's calling you.
M: Is the timing okay?
M: Does the timing seem okay? Can I take a look?
N: Sure thing.
N: He got mad at me.
S: The seating's taking shape now, using rope.
S: It really has an outdoor feel to it.
M: Sho-kun.
S: ALOOOOHA!!!
S: The mud's very slippery.
M: Sorry, that part just now-- can you raise the mic on screen just a bit?
Staff: We'll bring it closer to your mouth, sorry about that.
M: Raise your hands!
A: We'll keep going! No matter what!
A: It's okay!
N: Just as we planned.
O: This always happens.
S: It would be even better if it rained today so it won't rain tomorrow and the day after, don't you think?
M: It rained on our second day. The one day we wanted to dance in full, and we couldn't.
M: Oh well.
Screen: ARASHI!!
M: Open the doors.
S: I'm tired.
Staff: Time for three of the members to change.
S: Everybody!!
M: Which one's better, I wonder?
Staff: I like this one...
M: In terms of flow I think the sound transition in this one's way better.
S: The sun's gone down.
S: It was really pretty around "Kitto Daijoubu" or so.
M: That is true.
M: Over there, right?
M: Now let's start from 45 onward.
M: We'll see how dark it gets by the time we get to the next segment.
N: Good work.
O: Good work.
A: Good work~
A: Nice fight!
M: Alright, let's gather around later on.
M: Good work.
A: It's tomorrow! It feels like the day's finally here.
A: I hope the weather will be good though. Looking forward to it!
O: I seriously hope it will be sunny!
O: With this much rain already I think the skies will be clear.
O: I'm looking forward to it.
S: I think the concert itself will be good, now we just need other conditions like the weather to align for us.
S: Um, I hope it will be enjoyable for those who are coming to see us.
N: We're so thankful and grateful to be able to do it here, you know? We'll do our best to get that across.
A: It's okay! Don't be nervous! It's going to be okay! You can do it!
N: I don't feel anything when the encouragement's coming from you! How should I react?
N: Good work!
N: Watch the fire dance!
N: I really want everyone to watch that fire dance.
S: Ah, I got it wrong.
Staff: And then with "Believe", can we shoot the parts from the beginning?
S: Wait a sec.
S: This is 1, right?
Staff: Yes, that's 1.
S: It's hot.
M: I'm going to put on my headset.
N: It's so hot!
M: Can you check this intro?
S: We can't look at this during the actual show, so we keep looking at it during rehearsals.
S: Takes you back, doesn't it?
S: They used photos that I provided too, like the Bakatono picture or the picture from "West Side Story".
M: It's sooooo hot!
A: It's so HOT!
Staff: Rehearsal checks have come to an end. After this, erm... we open the doors at 4, and start at 5:30.
N: Please treat us weeeell!
S: Please treat us well!
O: It really is amazing that we can see the ocean from here.
O: You don't normally get to see that.
O: That's really...
O: But you know, it makes you kinda want to dive in.
O: Getting to ride the same boat from our debut, and going to a pineapple plantation too...
O: I don't remember all of it, but I do remember how I felt back then, and I vaguely remember some of the scenery.
O: That's what I remember a lot of. Like, "Man, I wanted to quit back then~"
O: But that's... I don't know... I feel frustrated, kind of itchy all over now that I think back on it.
A: This isn't good!
M: Alright!
O: Let's enjoy these past 15 years!!
All: Yeah!!
M: Does that mean we're doing the sunset portion after "Pikanchi Double" is over?
Staff: We can change it.
M: No, we're not changing anything. We'll stick with what we have.
Staff: Got it.
Staff: Three more minutes to go.
S: It's hot, isn't it? But I'm glad it's not raining.
M: Here we go.
M: Hey Hawaii, the scenery's looking great today too!
M: Okay, sing along with us!
