Oh god I feel so weird that living in South Florida means I am experiencing exceptionally cooler temperatures than most of the country. global warming get out!!!!
I HOPE IT GETS FIXED SOON. Also, if any of the hardware stores in your area have a hurricane fan, it is an excellent investment for things like power outages and AC breaks.
Thanks! I was able to make do most of the week with a series of fans (including a sweet Windmachine) and by sleeping in our family room (I was at work during the day, which was blessedly cold), until Thursday, when we had 67% humidity and a heat index of 101 at 11PM, and I finally said, "To hell with this." At that point, no fan was gonna make a difference. Since then, the repair guy has told me he'd have the new motor for our central air unit Friday (lies) and today (more lies). It's quite vexing, as Thor would say.
Thanks! We're apparently set for a repair date of tomorrow morning, but since I'll be at work anyway, it hardly matters. Still, a storm front just rolled through, which brought a delightful break in the heat--I just hope it lasts the night.
