Turkey Trip Recap - Day 6 (Wednesday, Oct 26)

Jan 16, 2008 21:27

Today was a bus trip to Ankara. It was mostly boring. Didn't sleep very well last night due to some crazy sinus infection. Blargggg.

Some pics from the bus ride... a part of Istanbul on the hill:

Random Mosque:

The bus ride was really long so we had a break at a rest stop. I'm not sure what to say about the toilets there except I'm really thankful I only had to pee. Sorry for the lousy pictures and crappy colors.

What in the hell is this bar sticking out of the door? Why does there appear to be a poop stain next to it?

The whole shebang:

Met up with our uncles and cousins in Ankara. The bride-to-be is extremely beautiful. My cousin done good!

Dinner was hosted at my uncle's house. It was excellent. Fresh fish, salad and the traditional Turkish drink of Raki. READ! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raki_%28alcoholic_beverage%29

I felt like crap because of the sinus infection and constant smokers all around. The family smokes like a bunch of chimneys. My sister-in-law got her fortune read by the new bride. Most of the women in Turkey are taught to read fortunes by looking at leftover coffee grounds in your cup from traditional Turkish coffee. It's served in these tiny cups... anyway, it was really interesting. The fortune went on about five minutes long than it should've but, eh, nobody tells me how to program code so I'll refrain from the fortune telling advice.

So, these entries aren't actually getting better. Sorry. The rest don't get more exciting.
