au_muses December topic: Don't Stand so Close to me

It took him over a week to figure out how to set the prank up. Timing was key, but so was the song choice. After all, if he wished to make it properly effective to the girls who were driving him bloody insane over their constant fancying of his dad he needed to make it a clear message. Some girls just weren't as brilliant as Luna and needed things spelled out to them. Harry secured the song and practiced in the room of requirement until he had mastered the spell.

It was a Monday when he decided to put his prank into action because Monday's are notoriously dull anyway. He arrived at class early and set it up before taking his seat next to Cedric. He'd be sure to share the pensieve memory of this with Luna since it was Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors who shared Transfiguration together. He had a feeling that once word reached Remus that he would wish for a view of it too.

Students filed in as they always did and soon Professor Black arrived. Harry checked the front seats and sure enough they were empty. The Gryffindor girls had a habit of being the last to arrive. It was as if they were daring Sirius to give them detention. It was foolish really. Everyone knew that Professor Black refused to give girls detention. He was not ignorant to their crushes on him. Of course he didn't have to hear them giggling and plotting ways to make him notice them. Harry was subjected to it and frankly he had had enough.

Just after the class began, the three Gryffindor girls arrived in a group, giggling and flashing their smiles at Sirius. The moment they crossed his desk together, the music began to blare.

Young teacher, the subject
Of schoolgirl fantasy
She wants him so badly
Knows what she wants to be
Inside her theres longing
This girls an open page
Book marking - shes so close now
This girl is half his age

Dont stand, dont stand so
Dont stand so close to me

The girls stopped suddenly right in front of the desk. Professor Black's eyes widened as he realized which song it was. Badgers and lions immediately started to laugh as the lyrics hit them, and they realized what the song was about. Harry purposely refused to look at Cedric because he knew Cedric knew it was him.

Her friends are so jealous
You know how bad girls get
Sometimes its not so easy
To be the teachers pet
Temptation, frustration
So bad it makes him cry
Wet bus stop, shes waiting
His car is warm and dry

Dont stand, dont stand so
Dont stand so close to me

The girls turned various shades of red. Gryffindor red. How appropriate. Sirius looked as if he wished to hide under his desk. The students continued to laugh as the song continued to play. Harry was the picture of innocence...until he caught his dad's gaze. He tried as hard as he could not to give up any sign of guilt, but genetics are a horribly powerful thing to fight against. The James Potter smirk slowly appeared on his face as the girls took their seats and the music came to an abrupt stop. That was the key of course. It would take three girls near his desk for it to start, and at least one of the girls moving away from the desk for it to stop.

The class was in hysterics. It was going to be hell to get them under control. But one look at the three girls faces and the mortified way they tried to hide behind their books made it very clear to Harry that they understood the message. It would be worth house points, detention, or anything he could possibly face. After all, who really wants to hear girls their age talking at length about fancying their father? Not Harry Friggen' Potter.
