My godson's laugh. He has this laugh that sort of bubbles up like a boiling cauldron. It begins as a snicker, perhaps even a giggle, and then explodes into something so loud and full of joy. His hair turns this brilliant shade of turquoise and his entire body shakes. When he laughs like that I can see his parents shining through in him. The beginning of that laugh reminds me of Remus. The way he would never quite give into joy completely, yet it would creep up on him regardless. His eyes would shine and he'd look every bit as devious as Sirius would. Those moments were the ones I could imagine how devious my father must have looked as well as they planned their pranks. I suppose what I see in Teddy is what they saw of my dad in me. We are the sons of Marauders, and even though our fathers are gone they live on in us.
When Teddy's laugh reaches the boiling over point that is when I see Tonks. She had the most beautiful laugh of anyone I have ever known with the exception of Ginny. When Teddy laughs he is able to make all of us laugh with him. That is the way Dora was. No matter how depressing and cynical the world appeared to be around us, one look at Dora's smile, or the sound of her laugh and suddenly the world seemed a bit brighter. The fact that my godson's hair changes in ways that are similar to his mother help drive the point home that she too lives on in him. I think I can see Andromeda in him as well. Because sometimes she is leaning against the door frame as I'm playing with Teddy on the floor, and he laughs that laugh and then I begin to laugh with him. Whenever I look up and catch her eye she looks a bit younger, and a lot happier. I see Dora in her as well.
Teddy's laughter can heal wounds that no potion can touch. He's quite extraordinary that way.
