He wonders whether she does it deliberately.
Well, of course she does, in the sense that nobody else is dressing her. Nobody else is picking those short skirts and kicky boots, the tight leathers and innocent little vest tops in pastels that show just enough sunlit skin to make a man's mouth water. Let alone a vamp's, with its combined promise of pumping blood and remembered sunshine. (Lovely neck on her. Lovely everything, and doesn't she show it?) That's all Buffy.
So, he asks himself whether she knows what she's doing to the vamps and demons of Sunnydale? Whether she dresses to impress them, give them a shimmy and a hard-on as they meet their sharp-woody ends at her hands. Make sure they regret their killer, for what they couldn't do to her as much as what she's done to them?
Is that her game? Does she get off on it? Is she flaunting her power, making sure they notice her before the inevitable end?
Does she run home at the end of a hard night's death-dealing, and giggle to herself over the drool and desire she's evoked among the slain? Does it get her wet and happy, alone in her virtuous single bed? Is that where the excitement lies in her life, far from her hapless human lovers?
Does she know this is another of her manifold powers? Does she wield it apurpose?
Spike's been watching Buffy Summers for three years, and he still can't make up his mind.
