I know that this is more than lame, and I'm a bit embarrassed to post it. But it's the only thing I'll be able to do this month, so I figured (heh) that at least it's better than nothing!

I agree! It has always been my head canon that Spike is actually a decent skater (though not exactly a figure skater :-)

Can't you just see him going skating with Drusilla around the turn of the century?

And it figures that he'd go skating with Buffy too at some point. You know, after they got happy together.

Uh huh. :) Cute! The little angel that's wearing a muff and boots and nothing else adds a nice touch of "what."
(How you'd keep balance while wearing a muff, I don't know. You'd pretty much need Spike to hold you all the time. ...Which, yeah, could be a good reason to wear one.)
