The dorm's strangely quiet tonight. Everyone out with their lovers, family, and friends or just cooped up in their room listening to their iPod and getting lost in their own worlds. Except for the two cuddled on the couch.
Kibum was here. Donghae next to him, curled up against the younger's form.
The television was on. A movie was playing. The title wasn't important. The plot was. It was about 2 people who love each other and the distance that separated the two only made their love stronger, to a point until everything crashed. Their worlds could no longer co-exist. Could not work properly. Could not function like it used to when their love fuelled their life. It became harder and harder to be in each other's presence. The love didn't turn into hate. It just turned numb.
"Do you think that'll happen to us Bummie?" Donghae asked, tilting his head up at Kibum, from his place on his shoulder.
Kibum didn't say anything. He just tightens his hold around Donghae's waist.
Donghae sighed and went back to staring at the screen. Mind totally focusing on the movie. He wanted to know how it ends for the couple. He needed to know.
He was so into the movie that he almost missed the question.
"Do you think that?" Kibum had whispered eyes still glued to the screen.
Donghae didn't know what to say. He knew what the right answer was but he didn't know if he believed it.
So he said what he had felt for so long. What he had bottled up inside.
"I hope not. I want you in my life. I want you by my side. I want you to own my heart and I own yours." Donghae said in a small timid voice. Like a child who was alone at night, calling for his parents to come to his rescue and make him feel safe again.
Kibum’s arms slowly removed themselves from Donghae’s waist.
Donghae was scared. Was Kibum leaving him?
He felt a hand touch his cheek. Daring his eyes to look up, his gaze connected right with Kibum’s.
Kibum leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips. No foreplay. No foolishness. No flirting. Just a simple kiss.
Kibum removed his hand from his face and rewrapped them around his waist. Pulling him closer until their bodies were pressed up against each other.
Donghae could feel Kibum’s heart. Kibum’s heart, that was his. He didn't know if it really was but he believed it. Kibum pulling him closer and kissing the top of his head was proof enough.
