Haha I do that too! Can't read just one book, with the occasional exceptional exception, which actually I just finished one of...I could barely touch another book while that one was waiting for me...but that's rare. Now that it's done, it's "50 Mathematical Ideas You Should Know" (phi = the square root of five plus one over two! Cool) and the Aesthetics of Change (epistemology of modern psychotherapy, recommended by a friend...thick, but awesome), and Perdido Street Station (meh, not bad) and a re-read of the Taltos books (out loud - they're awesome for this!) and The Rite (my weekly fluff) and the Art of War again (when is that NOT appropriate?) and something I'm no doubt forgetting...but these are the textures of my mental wallpaper, and I love where they meet, and how they change, and the colors they throw over the windows to the outside.

Thank you for lessening the usual din of "you're batshit crazy" in my daily life! ;)

All Quiet on the Western Front was required reading for me in France when I was young. I was absolutely stunned by the book and it left quite a mark. I don't think I can think about it without getting shivers.

It's definitely awesome, and a hard book to live up to if you want to write anything world war 1.
