Episode 36 LGBT News
Host:
wook77 Wook: In this month’s LGBT News segment I’m Wook77 and I’m beyond burned out. Continuing the half news half rant version of the news from last month this month I’m going to discuss bigotry burnout and how it’s getting really, really hard to take a bigot seriously any more.
I think the final straw for me on the bigotry burnout is the reaction to Sandy. How can you possibly take people seriously when they’re blaming LGBT people for natural disasters rather than discussing climate change, or rising sea levels, or the melting of the polar ice caps? Seriously, how can you do it? How can you sit there and listen to all these fucking morons going on and on about how New York got hit hard because they legalised marriage equality, because I can’t. I really, really, can’t take any of them seriously any longer. With this level of idiocy how the hell are they successful in life? They don’t have the brain power and common sense that God gave a gnat so how the fuck are they successful? And the answer is they’re successful because they prey on people who actually do believe this bullshit. I don’t think the people on television spouting off about how God made Hurricane Sandy hit New York because of their support for equal rights actually believe it. They just see a way to make a buck and there it is. And I really wish that the supposed liberal mainstream media would stop reporting on their pandering as factual, and start reporting on the actual fucking facts. I wish the mainstream media would stop giving credence to this crap and start focusing at actual news. I can’t even laugh at it any more. I just get irate, I turn off the TV and then I go read some porn, which hey awesome for the porn aspect but I’d still like to know what’s going on in the rest of the world. So I don’t know how to get my give a damn back, but I’d like to be passionate and articulate about equality once more instead of going ‘Fuck all y’all!’ instead, which is where I’m at.
So with my rant out of the way, I’ll now move onto the more positive news, of which there really isn’t much, because I am not going to give any more credence to the bigotry this month.
Dallas County has approved a domestic partner insurance subsidy that includes same-sex couples, which - awesome, it’s both for same-sex and opposite sex couples that are domestic partners having lived together for six months.
Brazil is hosting the first transgender beauty pageant. Now I’m not fan of beauty pageants in general but anything that gets visibility of transgender people out there in a positive light will make me happy at this point. These women are clearly articulate, beautiful, and great ambassadors. This pageant is especially important in Brazil where a rash of anti-transgender crimes have occurred in recent months, including the stoning to death of a woman simply known as Madonna.
Brad Pitt has donated a large sum of money to the Human Rights Campaign to target those states with marriage equality on the ballot. These states include Maine, Maryland, Washington and Minnesota, so if you live in those four states and you’re listening to this before you get a chance to vote ensure that you’re voting for equality and against bigotry. You don’t want the idiots to win. After all they’re blaming LGBT for Sandy.
Mayor Mike Bloomberg has endorsed President Obama and cited his support for marriage equality as one of the main contributing factors. Way to be cool, sir.
Oh and for all you Sherlock fans out there, Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing the gay fifth Beatle, Brian Epstein in a biopic, which should be good. I hope.
An audience laughed at Michelle Bachman when she rambled on about how she doesn’t do political speeches and wouldn’t discuss her position on rape because she doesn’t really do those political speeches. So maybe people are wising up, don’t I fucking well wish it.
And on that note that’s the news. If you have news you’d like discussed leave us a comment on any of the social media locations and we’ll be more than happy to highlight it.
