So sorry we keep failing you...

Let's see, you turned up to a weekly fighter practice that has random A&S and dance practice on demand, with three kids (one over 18) in tow. You didn't bother to tell anyone you were coming. Your eldest, who also didn't bother to tell anyone he was coming, wants to fight, and of course, loaner armour and someone free and able to work with him just ( Read more... )

"But I don't want to do anything with money online because hackers! and the surcharge thing is SO UNFAIR!" is what I believe her answer to that has been, from Mrs Catsidhe, who has been swearing IRL at this exchange since yesterday.

Yes, part of the problem is, apparently, it's too damn hard for her to print the form and send a cheque, and she refuses to make payments on-line. Ok, that last part is fair enough, but when she gloated that "I am not distressed that the SCA has to pay 60 cents postage for a membership form, they will get $40 fees in return, which should cover stationery and postage" when an individual did that out of her own pocket, that was when my blood started boiling. And then I read her later post saying that person is an officer and should be able to claim the money back from the SCA.
Just...ARGH!

And after all that, I didn't send her enough forms because she has *three* children and *two* adults, and I find that out from here! ARGH!

And then I found the thread on facebook. Ye gods and little fishies. She doesn't want help; she wants her money back. And then to never ever have to do anything hard again. Like breathe.

I would almost suggest taking a whip round to return her cash, in return for a signed form that she would never ever ever again come to an event but ...

The thread looks to have been deleted. Mod did say shut the thread, but can only guess it went on enough to warrant deletion.

It was *hard* not to comment, having arrived there after the shut it down comments.

The saddest part is that the people who remembered her from twenty years ago now have entirely new - and much less pleasant - memories.

Especially at the point where she mentioned suing the local group for overcharging her. (At which point all contact *needs* to be broken off, and the lawyers brought in.)

Oh good lord, why do people even bother to help people like this to join? Are you sure you want this person and all their whining in your local chapter? I don't care what they were like 20 years ago, if this is their current level of helplessness, you're better off without them.

What also annoyed me about that thread was the people from other countries who insulted our kingdom for having such "stupid" fees, without knowing what they were talking about. I still reckon you were awesome about it.
