Do I smell Disc Read Error???...personally, i blame the patriots....

as i stated in my last entry, speculation on nintendo's plans are already underway...but the console isn't what worries me...its the DS that has me worried. although it continues to do extremely well, the "mainstream" gamer (aka anyone who buys Madden 2005) will effectivly look past it, in favor of the PSP's easily scratchable, seizure-enducing ( Read more... )

Yes, I would have to agree with most of what has been said here. The only point worth mentioning is that PSM has confirmed the PSP at 4 hours of continuous gameplay. However, that aside, I still believe that the DS will overcome the PSP simply because the price point on the DS will be much more acceptable to gamers. Keep in mind that by the time the PSP comes out Nintendo by then will most likely be able to drop their prices, making the DS more attractive than the PSP. I believe that the PSP will be the biggest challenge to Nintendo in the handheld market yet, but I think in the end the PSP will go the way of the nine other handhelds that tried to defeat gameboy in the past.

you're right. i forgot they still have a lot of time to drop prices. but another point i forgot to mention is the media's apparent focus on the psp. sure, the ds got lots of exposure, but if ign is proclaiming the psp , the "savior" or handhelds, then, like sheep, unknowing "mainsteamers" will buy it up like cheap crack. hopefully, i'm wrong.

Yeah on Tech TV they were like pissing themselves thinking about the PSP. I think i was watching Filter, and they were doing the show on some electronics convention, and when they started talking about the system, they were about ready to jerk off they were so excited.

yeah. my point exactly. but...then again....hasn't g4techtv sucked a lot lately anyway? yeah. i'll tell you why too. 2 words: KEVIN PERIERA. he has got to be the worst thing to ever happen to tech-tv. nothing but shit spews from his mouth 24/7. And he's obviously monopolizing every show. first it was Arena, then Pulse (which was actually pretty good until, of course, he showed up.), then he appeared on g4tv.com, and now he's completely taken over Screen Savers. yup. he's a whore. and if i turn on the tv tommorrow and he's on Cinematech, i'm going to systematically self-implode into nothingness...right after i run him down with a car and feed his body to Shamoo.

Believe me. I'm as big of a Nintendo fan as you. I scrounge for every last detail of information on anything Nintendo. I buy 90% of their first-party games. Hell, I even write for a next-gen Nintendo fan site (DSRevolution.com - Formally GamecubeNetwork.com). But I disagree with you on some points. Namely the PSP.

First off, I'm rooting for Nintendo. I love Nintendo. But you have to admit, Sony has made a pretty nice piece of hardware here. You're wrong on a few things about their system.

The screen: Sorry, it's not easily scratchable. The PSP actually has a more scratch resistant screen than the DS (which is pretty hard to believe considering you're actually supposed to touch the DS's screen). It is covered with a thick layer of protective coating and (while I doubt the validity of this statement) Sony reps have stated the need to use a knife to even put a scratch in it. A knife. Secondly, it's not seizure inducing. It's beautiful. The PSP's screen on even the lowest brightness setting is brighter than the DS's screen. Everything ( ... )
