No, you're right, they are lighter than light. I subscribe for two weeks and their "daily bites" were so lame I unsubbed. Waste of time.

I get their Daily Bites in my mailbox too, and half of them wind up deleted before I read them. I just keep holding on to see if they actually write something good.

And you're right - they're very superficial and very commercial - the majority of their tips are basically "buy this" endorsements - and most of them seem to be for some "young, cool & clueless" (and for all I know imaginary) demographic. I don't feel like their target audience because I'm not loaded and I don't throw cocktails parties for yuppies every weekend. It becomes very obvious that they've missed the environmental good that can be done from buying LESS stuff and living simply, damnit.

I've subscribed to ideal bite for a few years now. I love it. Yeah, the tips are generally "light", but it is really important to remember that there are a ton of people that do not know what to do or where to start. Being "green" can sound scary and overwhelming to a lot of people. Ideal Bite shows people easy, everyday things they can do to change their lifestyle. I am an environmental studies major and I know that it is easy to get in the mindset that no one is green enough. You have to step back once and while and look at how many people are out there that do not consider the same issues as you day-to-day. Ideal Bite leads people into a different mindset. Nothing will improve if there are just a few hard-line environmentalists and billions of people doing nothing to reduce their impact.

touche. and youre right, they are probably a lot more help to the general public than i am --well especially here on my LJ (as opposed to say the green show in theree weeks (!!!) or rock festival greening..) but heck, i don't aim for general public, i aim for envrionmental studies majors, like you :p
