They did it in the 90's too. Took old classic animation, made it friendly to modern kids and kept some semblance of the look of classic characters. You might remember the outcome - Tiny Toons.
Yeah I remember the Tiny Toons one. At the time, it was an interesting move to "reverse age" the Looney Tunes to kids. It was a good way to introduce new generations to the Looney Tunes brand. Its funny that my lil brother thought he grew up with Looney Tunes. He was disappointed to learn that the Looney tunes brand is in fact older than me.

I do have to say I did chuckle when I read your comment, and I thought "I simply have to share my 2cents worth". I agree about the butchering of well known childhood icons! Yes times are a changing but that doesn't mean toys have too. They should be left alone to bring back memories when looked at, I never was a Strawberry Shortcake girl or a Care Bears fan but I do have the upper most respect for Disney characters like Mickey Mouse. Maybe they have the idea that slimming down toys will stop obesity - i'm pretty certain children/teens and adults won't look at a Care Bear and think "oh i'm so fat, I wish I was like that bear". Bears are mean't to be cuddly and loved as they are not for being skinny!
Leave the toys alone and start feeding kids vegetables not junk food!

a high percentage of the parents dont wanna take responsibility for their children's health. They want to point the finger at someone else rather than themselves because they don't have time for the kids and have to work.
I know of a well-written song about this phenomenon. It's called "C is for Lettuce"

Hell, make them go outside to play. (Supervised, of course.)
Are kids still allowed to do that?
