I had a very vivid dream last night. I woke up with the strangest feeling. like I had dreamed about stuff that had never been in my head to begin with, like things from someone else's dream had become tangled up with mine.

What was really weird was that by the end of the dream I wasn't really there at all. I was just watching someone else who was the main character of the dream. That person, a middle-aged heavy set man who was dreaming he was a detective, knew I was there in spirit even though I was invisible.

Kind of crazy.

Wow. That's messed up, and pretty cool.

You should tell me if it happens again. :)

I don't know if that's happened to you before, Gentle Reader. Has it?

OMG yes. well not exactly, not the death part. but i have dreams so vivid, sometimes including memories inside the dream that are so vivid themselves that they disorient me some time later in the day, when i finally realise that not only was this not real...but that never happened either.

not all my dreams are like this. but often enough.

um. forgot to mention a key component to the above. these memories? they will re-insert themselves into subsequent dreams. only it's not like re-inserting myself into a particular dream-world to have another go, which of course also happens. the latter is more "lucid" than "vivid." the vivid ones, the ones that disorient me hours after i've woken up, i completely forget or don't ever know that i'm dreaming.

yup. now you know what i meant when i said "OMG yes:" instead of a recurring character like you had/have, i get a recurring memory. it hasn't been a frequent thing, but just often enough for me to notice and begin to isolate.

once i realise in the waking world that a given memory isn't actually real, though, it doesn't re-insert itself again.
