The one bright spot is that it only passed by a small margin. Back in 2000, Prop 22 to ban gay marriage passed with 61% approval. Yesterday, Prop 8 only passed with 52%. This gives me hope that people are changing their minds, and at some election soon we'll have another proposition to roll back the harm caused by this one.
What was that propaganda? I'm always fascinated to hear the argument against gay marriage because there just doesn't seem to be one for me.
I've never understood why allowing two people to do something that isn't harming anyone else or impacting on anyone else's life in any way can be so opposed. I mean it's not like once gay people get married they break into your home, crawl into bed with your kids and whisper 'dive for muff... doooo iiiiiit' in their ears while they are asleep. It's not even outwardly apparent really who is married and who isn't. Two guys walking down the street holding hands vs two guys walking down the street holding hands with rings on their fingers. I don't get it. I really don't. If it's a Christian God Will Be Angry thing well can't God just be angry at them? It's not like God is going to be angry at Neighbour_of_Gay_Person for living on the same street. Or is that actually the fear? I'm genuinely perplexed.

If nothing else, I'd imagine the number of lawsuits from people whose marriages were legal and now, apparently, are not, is going to be pretty high.
And now we have the Supreme Court nominations.
