PERSONALITY
Favorites: Silk robes, the color purple, gossip, newspapers, the rare wizarding mystery novel, photography - with herself as the subject, and the study of 'darker' magical creatures.
Distastes: Muggles, tabloids, things that are of poor quality, muggles, swearing, indelicacies, and outright dueling.
Secrets, Strengths, & Weaknesses:

Secrets:

- Though she's of the high opinion that all muggles should be extermined, Zelda's rather fond of another iffy area of the Wizarding world - the so called sentient 'creatures' such as mermaids, werewolves and vampires. She won't admit this for fear of being ostracized, unlike her view on muggles (which is welcomed). How this came about, she wasn't certain - but unlike other children of wizarding descent she was frightened with stories of muggles and their horrors - these creatures were the 'lighter' aspects of stories, eliminating any fear of them. While she's not entirely for equal rights she does think that they deserve the right to live. At least for her own study...which is saying something as Zelda isn't one to study willingly.

- While her dislike of muggles is distinct, it's not well known that she's actually terrified of them.

- She still sleeps with a stuffed bear, but won't admit it. Her father promised her years ago that it would protect her from everything that could frighten her - speaking at the time of her fear of dragons which she hasn't quite gotten over (though that is no secret). He lives in a hole she cut out of her matress when she doesn't have him in bed with her.

Strengths:

- Gossip whore, and good at mingling (to an extent).

- Skilled at languages, speaking in various degrees of clarity: Polish, German, Lithuanian, and English. (Lithuania since she was a little girl has been occupied twice, and she was taught English side by side with Lithuanian.) Best skilled with her native tongue and English - when particularly frustrated or not thinking, she'll interpose Lithuanian with whatever she's speaking.

- Very good at wearing a physical mask on her emotions. Even when furious and utterly dejected, Zelda can manage a smile as she tells you to go to Hell. The only sign at all of this slipping is when she begins to speak in a language other than the one she's supposed to be (usually Lithuanian).

- Has developed quite a flair for bargaining with unreasonable shop keepers.

Weaknesses:

- Motivated solely by her own social security and status, Zelda's more concerned about being part of the group rather than what the group stands for. Easily led by others, more of a follower than a leader.

- Due to growing up in near poverty by parents of former wealth, Zelda has become something of a hypocrite when referring to such. She freezes up should someone accuse her of her lack of wealth and will easily make fun of others who suffer from poverty. That doesn't mean she'll take part in charity for any reason other than for her own betterment.

- Using her memory for social skills rather than studying, Zelda doesn't get the best grades and refuses to apply herself in any way other than the obvious. After all, what purpose does a woman have with things like Arithmancy or Dueling? None of your answers make sense either.

- Zelda fails at making real emotional connections with people; she herself isn't that trustworthy of others, her secrets and fears kept behind a facade of a cheeful socialite. Her empathy only goes as far as trying to manipulate this to her advantage, rather than helping others - or even putting herself in their shoes.

Detailed Personality: When one says that someone schemes for their ideals, one usually thinks for grand things such as love, truth, world peace and the like. That's not the case with Zelda who literally spends every social move she makes with a scheming plan to get what she wants - social respect, popularity, and most of all security. She herself while in public is prim, sweet (as long as you don't snub her), and friendly. In private? She's a nervous, terrified wreck but she's not alone often especially while at school.

Relying on those around her to keep her grounded as well as to mooch off of, Zelda returns these favors by being the person you do want in your group. She works, as trained, to keep the atmosphere 'enjoyable' (however you'd like to term that), keeping on certain people's good sides. Almost like a leech, she feeds off of everyone's elses trials and successes in the hopes of fitting in - being a part of the in crowd (whatever it may be), permanently.

Zelda is slightly more drawn to those of similar opinions to she - but as most of hers (aside from her hatred/fear of muggles) seems to be based on others, she's more likely to be 'attracted' to people and groups who are secure, promising long lasting relationships if you make the right moves. Alliances are her friends - though at first look it seems that those she makes are more superficial than she makes them out to be. When rejected (not only in the sense of romantic interests, but advances in general) Zelda freezes into an Ice Queen mode, excepting the slips into her native tongue. Better to keep on her good side - she'll remember the wrongs done to her for years...and even she may debate a bit before forgiving. After some petty acts of revenge and full out apology But it's not like the Durmstrang students are for the latter at all

Though 'smarter than she looks' doesn't term Zelda - the fact that she has many layers is obvious. She's superficial simply for the sake of being superficial - because quite a few people are, and it's the best way to be a part of the crowd. She's been told all her life than men enjoy a compliant (translation: lay back and think of the Fatherland) and docile (translation: don't even think about showing off the brains) woman. As all she wants is to fit into someone's standards, Zelda simply goes with the flow - and puts up the act. Besides, who cares about the amazing grades anyway? She certainly doesn't. It's not important in the long run, and that's all she keeps in mind.

HISTORY
Character History: Zelda's story technically begins with her parents, Tomas and Ruta. Each came from well off pureblooded families and had known each other since their youth at Durmstrang. Bonding together over similar experiences - both lost their parents while attending school, as they got caught in underhand dealings during the First World War. Each heirs, they found similarities and fell in love in a typical hurt slash comfort fashion. Their wedding splashed across papers for extravagance was only the beginning of their poor spending habits.

Tomas took up journalism, as a side project 'Just for fun.' Ruta went into 'homemaking' and 'decorating' - fancy words for buying overpriced antiques and disgusting decor and letting the money in their bank accounts deplete. It was only when they realized that Ruta was pregnant that they realized that their spending habits might be the end of them.

By then it was nearly too late for them. Tomas employed sense, dropping his many spending habits - applying more hours to his work. Ruta didn't slow however, and her bills on top of the old ones messed with the disturbing balance act. This continued through Zelda's toddler years, until they finally hit bankruptcy when she was four years old. Their family homes were sold, most social connections were lost, and Tomas found himself reporting the day they moved out.

This began the tougher years in the Mielkus household.

They moved into an apartment in Vilnius, under a Fidelius spell to take care of their growing paranoia of muggles. This became useful years later when the war moved into the city itself, but that's getting ahead of things. Tomas began to spend nearly all of his time from home, making Ruta's anger at him grow as Zelda could only watch and be affected. Ruta blamed her husband for everything that happened to their former wealth - aside from her marrying him. No, that was what she cursed left and right, this destroying any ideas Zelda had of a woman loving her husband when she married him. Convenience only - love happened in the reverse order if at all.

Finding herself with nothing better to do - and determined for her daughter to succeed as she hadn't - Ruta began instilling lessons in her little girl, mantras that never left Zelda's mind. Women were accessories - arm pieces for men. The women who weren't were the ones who ended up dead or worse. (And by worse, Ruta simply meant destitute, or that was how Zelda interpreted even years later). Social skills were to be valued above all things - a proper pureblooded girl never shows her fears - one's greatest hope in life was to be married off properly, etc. etc. Tomas' involvement in this was minimal - he was around so little that it would be a surprise if he noticed anything strange with his daughter, or her mentality.

The lack of stability from her father sparked a strange relationship with him. Zelda and Tomas were much closer in her younger years, but as time went by she became more and more impatient with him, this having rubbed off from her mother. That isn't to say Zelda idolized her mother by any means - no, she was a failure as she said herself. But she had a brain (to an extent) unlike Tomas, with his slow grin and honest eyes. At least Tomas was good with spells.

From her both her parents though, and their taking advantage of their Apparating skills - Zelda has had little interaction with muggles, instead only told stories since a little girl to fear them. They were the bogeys under the bed, with their powerful non-magical weapons, their hunting down of witches and wizards (never mind this was years and years ago), their brutal ways with everything. This being nightmare fuel for her, Zelda's semi-irrational fear of muggles grew to full out hatred when she learned that was of similar opinion to some at Durmstrang. An outlet for the fear she wasn't aloud to show (outlawed by the very people who started it), Zelda with time grew more and more vocal about her adamant hatred of muggles - only shutting up in occasions where it would severely stop her social ranking.

While on the subject of fears it might be good to backtrack a bit and bring up an incident when Zelda was not in the same destitute state. Before her father was gone all the time and he actually noticed little things about his daughter, a story he had written on a rare dragon sighting that he had read aloud to her frightened her terribly. For a week she lost sleep until he gifted her a stuffed bear, which she keeps to this day. Named Kestas, he's one of her best kept secrets - no one, not even her family realizes that she still has it.

To say Zelda did well at Durmstrang is...caught. Schoolwork wise, she did fairly poorly - but that didn't matter in the long run. She nearly failed her exams at the end of her fifth year, due to being so caught up in social activites. You name a party or little shenanigan and Zelda was probably a part of it. The few interactions she had with other wizards and wizards during her pre-Durmstrang years, Zelda used to her advantage and began to build her own miniature field of social connections at Durmstrang.

Entering her sixth year, not much has changed throughout. Times at home are difficult for a variety of reasons - people are dragged from their homes screaming at night, the sound of windows being broken has become a regularity, as has her mother pacing in a worry about her father coming home with whatever it is he's a part of. (It was the only time that Zelda could ever remember her mother showing affection towards her father at all). Within the last few years things have slowed, granted but there's still round ups occuring. Not that their family was in any danger from the Nazis on the streets, but they still were rather frightening with their guns and rifles and their liability to take into 'custody' anyone who had connections for those they were looking for...

SAMPLES
First-Person:

Oh it is good to be back. It's been much too long to be gone the whole summer. Makes one wish that we did study in the reverse, especially with how long these days carry on for. I like Winter more than well enough - but since I do I would wish I could take that time off instead. See all of you lovely people in the summer, when I'm bored out of my mind.  Or better yet studying all year round, wouldn't you say?

Dears, you simply must let me know about your latest adventures. You've not kept e anywhere near enough updated. My Moshe's gained weight this summer. Weight. He needs exercise. Oh please, dear ones -  help him out. Please, get me out [gone]

Third-Person:
[As a side note, as I didn't know where else to put this - Zelda does refer to her father by the Lithuanian word Tėtė (as mother translates the same...) However, for this app I gave up on putting the special e's in after a certain point and probably will do that in game as it's...a hassle when trying to write and return tags at a decent speed. If this will be an issue, I'm willing to find another solution]

Her boot clicked against the cobblestones, failing to show her impatience to her father. Come ON Tete, Zelda thought angrily. He was taking far too long with her trunk. It wasn't even that full - he should know, what with their issues and all and Mama yelling at her last week for being indebted to her classmates. Honestly, it only established a certain connection with them. There could always be blackmail for later after all, once interactions had been made.

But the trunk was light and Tete knew it - Mama knew it - Zelda knew it. He should be able to lift the silly thing, he wasn't that old. Or at least put a levitation charm on it. But no. Tete refused to use the spell for fear of 'giving them away'. It of course only made them more obvious, as Zelda waited in her wizarding robes by the ship's dock as he stumbled towards her and Mama.

They should never had scheduled it so that they had to head to Durmstrang at the busiest part of the day on the docks. The muggles - muggles everywhere were patrolling, especially those with the shoulder bands. Not good at all, Zelda thought internally squirming. Their robes were suspicious she knew by muggle standards. (A few in her dorm followed the disgusting muggle fashion all too closely - burning a few of the pages, she'd seen far more than she wanted to). She could swear that that one right there with the trimmed hair was staring right  at her.

Her blood pounded through her veins and her heart beat faster. Taking a deep breath and turning to her mother, Zelda forced a cheery grin on her face. "You promise to write me on the latest news, won't you?"
