phone message for Ariadne; dated a week or so after the sandwiches debaclebeenkickedJuly 31 2010, 03:44:36 UTC
[Hi, Ariadne, have a surprise phone call at about 9am! Hope you weren't sleeping or doing anything important like going to class...]
Ariadne, it's Arthur. I was calling to see if you were interested in having a lunch that wasn't interrupted by armed robbers. Call me back when you get this.
[Ariadne is at work. Ariadne is not supposed to be on her phone right now.]
[Ariadne is on her phone right now.]
Arthur! God, we have serious talent for not getting each other on the phone. Uhm... I got your message, and that would be nice, yeah. The armed robbers were just a bit disr--
Gray! Why are you on the phone? You're running a register!
Crap. Uhm, I get off work in... four hours, ish. I'll call back then, or something.
--four hours later--scarfchitectJuly 31 2010, 04:27:24 UTC
--know better than that, Ariadne, I had complaints from--
Yes, Julie, I know--I won't do it again, all that jazz... crap, hang on, Julie--hi, Arthur. Sorry, my boss is trying to chew me out. Uh... I'm off work now?
Man, I wish you'd pick up your phone... well, anyway, it's 1:15. Call me back when you get this.
[Call all you want, but there's no one home, and you're not gonna reach his telephone...
Arthur hadn't been paying much attention to his phone, because his Kierkegaard was really fascinating, but he calls Ariadne back within five minutes of getting her call. Ariadne also doesn't get much of a greeting, because Arthur would rather get straight to the point.]
I've obviously interrupted something important, but are you free later this afternoon? [There may be a tiny hint of sarcasm hidden in that sentence. It's hard to tell with him, though.]
