Character
Name: Kida Masaomi
Series: Durarara!!
Timeline: Post episode-19
Canon Resource Links: Here, very short entry here, some light novel translations, and here.

Affiliation: Team Rocket

Personality: The first thing you'd probably notice about Kida is that he hits on every single girl he meets. A complete stranger? No problem! An entire group of girls? Hey, I do group dates! He acts like he's a ridiculous playboy, but he fails at it too much to be even that. Bold? Yes. Love doctor? Not really. But he doesn't let that bog him down as he chases down the ladies in hopes of getting one of them to go on a date with him.

To be honest though, that fail playboy part of him is a part of his energetic personality. He doesn't really mean much of what he says to girls, having explained to Mikado once that the only real goal he had was to talk to them. Kida seems totally like a person who's living life: he gestures wildly while speaking, he cracks awful jokes in every conversation, and he's almost always cheerful. And to top it all off, he truly is a nice guy who cares about his friends and the well-being of others... if he trusts you, of course. And he will do almost anything for the people he cares for. There's a special charisma around Kida that attracts people to him, and he's always willing to make new friends.

Beneath all that enthusiastic display, though, is a darker side. Kida is often plagued by guilt from Saki's injury, which had sent him into a deep depression before Mikado had came. It's a subject that he's touchy about, and it's something that Kida tries to hide from his friends, especially Mikado. It was thanks to Saki's hospitalization that Kida decided to try to shed his past with the Yellow Scarves, and it's also why he tries so hard to protect others from the darkness of the city. Despite this, though, Kida is in his own sense a coward when it comes to his friends as well. It's shown by his reluctance to visit Saki, his unwillingness to call Mikado when he later leaves the city. When he's afflicted with such guilt, it's hard for him to face his friends when he's convinced that it's all his fault.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Kida is definitely a strong fighter. It was mentioned in the light novels that he was able to take on entire gangs by himself when he needed to.

Both a strength and weakness of his would be his commitment to his friends. He is easily manipulated through his drive to protect them, and this is shown especially when a certain man called Izaya uses this to indiscreetly force him back to his position as the leader of the Yellow Scarves.

Another would be his inability to let go of his past. Kida isn't the type of person to let things go easily, and they usually torment him while he remains silent about them.

Pokemon
Starter: A Mareep. Baa.

Samples

First Person Sample: Hel-lo, there! I thought I heard a beautiful chorus of angels and it seems like I'm right! What are a bunch of lovely girls like you hanging out in a dusty road like this? It's dangerous around here, with Team Rocket running around and such! If you need an escort, I, Kida Masaomi, will be more than happy to offer it! Me and my Mareep will protect you from the wild ruffians that dare to cross our paths. I will be your knight in shining armor, your superman, your--

[One of the girls mention something about seeing him around the Rocket HQ.] What? Maybe I am, but maybe I'm not. Even though I look like a mature individual far beyond the tender age of fifteen, I am most assuredly a kindhearted, gentle, and sensitive young man deep down inside. Decide for yourself if a youth such as me, searching for love, would team up with such wild hooligans!

Ah--! Don't go! I'll take you all out for some drinks, how about it?

Third Person Sample: There was multiple things wrong with this place that Kida could list. On top of that list: Pokemon being real.

He knew about the game. Heck, he even had some of the games. So, deriving from those small facts, he could definitely say that this was either a really twisted dream, or that his mind had finally flipped out on him. What else could explain the little sheep creature trotting at his heels, or the red and white balls on his belt?

Kida had hesitated about changing into the Rocket outfit, but he figured that he might as well in order to please whatever crazy maniac had given him the clothes in the first place. He had stuffed the rest of his clothes in his backpack before heading out.

The Mareep, whose name he found out by asking one of the grunts, was more than happy to follow him around. When he had first let it out of its ball, its first act was to jump on him and to bleat jovially.

He had decided to name it Mikado. It responded well to the the nickname.

Well, hallucination or no hallucination, he had to find some way out of this place. There was still unfinished business left at home he had to do, with the Dollars and the Slashers. He had no clue how he would do it, but he would somehow work it out. He would talk around, make the right connections, and find someone who could get him back to Ikebukuro, where he belonged.

Kida blinked as he stepped out of the dark building. He swore that he heard that little ditty in the back of his head had suddenly changed, but that might've just been his imagination. Mikado baaed and tripped over his feet.

If he had a feeling of unease when he had woken up in that dark room, it only seemed to triple as he walked down the streets. A sense of enmity hung heavily in the atmosphere. People wouldn't meet his gaze or would give him fear-filled glances. He probably shouldn't have changed into that uniform.

Kida looked around as casually as he could, hands in his pockets, and saw a couple of girls standing by the corner. He put a smile on his face, took off his hat, and made his way toward them. "Hello there!" he called out, waving. The girls retreated back, but he persisted.

"Hey, there's no need to be afraid! I'm merely drawn to the beautiful sound of your voices! I can safely say that you're the cutest girls I have ever met. What's your names? Will you go out with me?" He laughed as they made a face, waving his hand. "You don't have to answer right away! Why don't we take some time to think about it, and discuss more of love and such over some drinks instead, hmm? I'll pay for all of it~!"
