Actually, I do want to set the world on fire.

Lately, I've been playing a silly amount of Fallout: New Vegas on the Xbox, because I enjoy video games that let me throw dynamite at people, loot corpses, and drink out of toilets. I've not sure how far into the story I am (I'm currently at the strip), but here are my thoughts so far...

Cut for spoilers. )

video games, fallout

It's true: the game is buggy.

*sigh* I guess I expected that. I haven't bought FNV yet since I usually wait awhile for the patches.

The prospect of doing evil things in a video game just bothers me for some inexplicable reason.

Yeah, same! In Fallout 3, during the quest where you enslave people for Paradise Falls, I was drawn in with the prospect of using a scifi hypno-gun but then after using it a few times, I was all "Good lord, this is wrong. WHAT HAVE I BECOME?"

Also, a gang of Elvis impersonators?? Freeside sounds like my kind of town!

The bugs are seriously starting to annoy me now. For example, I can't finish one of Veronica's quests because it causes her to vanish afterwards, and both my companions keep randomly disappearing in one of the casinos. I've become a lot more fanatical about saving my progress in case I hit a bug that'll screw things up.

I was all "Good lord, this is wrong. WHAT HAVE I BECOME?"

Without giving too much away, I've just hit a quest where I have to kill a bunch of people for an influential NPC, and it makes me :(

THE ENDS JUSTIFY THE MEANS but oh man there goes my perfect karma.

You can even join their gang. I think you can get a quiff and a leather jacket while you're at it.

Also their boss has a cyborg dog with a visible brain.
