Some of that is just ridiculous.

There is no way in hell my kid will be getting a car for their 16th birthday. They can drive a beater that I lend them. An iPod? Keep dreamin', kid. You raise half the money for the school trip and stay on honor roll, and I'll pay the other half.

Seriously, that's what I'm thinking :X. I got my mom's old car when I was 16, but I had to pay for gas and insurance. I consider myself lucky, but I don't think I was completely sheltered from the cost of things. I also somehow managed to juggle multiple APs with two extracurriculars and a job. THE HORROR.

It's no wonder that half the people getting out of college don't know their finances from their ass.

I always thought my kids should raise half the cost of big ticket items, at least, too.

My parents did not make much money at all, and they were great about allowing me to do things and go on trips AS LONG AS I APPRECIATED THEM and did not expect them.

Instead of going to senior week the summer after I graduated high school, I went to Europe on a music trip for 2 weeks. It was amazing, and now, knowing the cost, I'm so grateful that they let me go. But I EARNED it. I got good grades and with a few exceptions, was a good kid, and I WORKED that summer and every other summer AND spring break.

Karen and Keith Smith are raising five boys, ages 6 months to 13 years, in Sanford, Colo., on a household income of about $30,000.

HOW??!?!?! WTF? I couldn't even imagine. I can't even live off my 30K :X It said they had about 15K in credit card debt, but that's still not that horrid, considering they make peanuts and are raising five kids. They must wear burlap sacks or something along those lines.

That was an interesting article. I always said that I'd spoil my kids, to an extent, but I don't know if they'd be getting some of the things these parents buy their kids. Gotta love feeling guilty about not being there and then trying to buy the kid's affection. That'll continue to go over well for both the parent and the child *eyeroll*

Okay, let me explain since you seem to think that since you don't know our entire history nothing's true.

Alex & I have been together off and on since 2000.
Yes,I have had several journals, but either I mess them up with the layouts or I forget the passwords to them,so I go off & make a new journal.

When I conceived my daughter, Alex & I weren't together. I had broken up with him [out of stupidity], and told him never to contact me again. He contacted me periodically between when we broke up that time and I tried to move on. Meeting a guy I shouldn't have been with - and got pregnant. So no, you're right, my daughter is not Alex's.

Yes, i_r_emoshunul is me ( ... )
