My Saturday With an Assbear

Oct 10, 2004 03:44

We took Bunny out today.  First we went to Old Town and had lunch in a tea house.  Actually, first we had to pull over and pet Jenny the horse.  She pulls the carriage that takes people through Old Town.  THEN we went to the tea house.

I had the tuna salad with walnut bits and sliced grapes on potato bread.  It was GOOD.  Bear had a veggie sandwich on a bagel.  Bunny had cinnamon raisin toast with butter and an orange soda.  I had iced rose tea and Bear had some kind of iced herbal tea.  Yum.

Bear's been acting stiff and weird for a day or two, but I tried to be pleasant anyway.  I made small talk throughout lunch.  I mentioned to him that I'd like to drop by the craft store at some point to see if they have Christmas stockings in yet.  I told him I'd like to add some lace and beading to a plain old stocking to give it a Victoran air... He was silent for a moment and then accused me of wasting money on something we don't need.  He said we alreayd have Christmas stockings so why do I need to buy new ones?  *sigh*  I instantly bristled and told him that it's FUN to do Christmas crafts... that I ENJOY it.  I told him that every year I like to do a Christmas craft and that if it's not making Victorian stockings it'll be something else.  DAMMIT!  He was silent for a while. So was I.  I was thinking of all the money HE'S ever wasted on things that I considered stupid and boring.  Then when lunch was almost over... I'd choked down my sandwich even though my throat was tight with rage... he said he was sorry... That he'd just been in a snarky mood.

I asked if he's been taking his medicine and he irritably said he has been.  Hmm.

Even after he appologized he was still acting weird.  I'm not sure what's going on.  Why is he upset about money NOW?  Now that we've sold the old house and will be paying off debt in a month or so?  I don't get it.

After that we went to a record store.  Bunny and I got bored and went to a gift shop.  Bunny bought Grandma a card.

Then we went to CVS so I could get more nose spray (*hangs head*) , some shampoo and a pumice thingy for my feet.  Bunny was in a pretty good mood for all of this.

After that we went to Blockbuster.  I rented "Elephant", "Cold Mountain" and "House of Fools".  Then we went to a craft store that is going out of business.  They didn't have much left, but I did get a neato Victoriany looking waste basket for the downstairs bathroom.

I was exhausted at this point, but Bear, who was still stiff and unpleasant, wanted to go to a liquor store.  So we did.  Bunny was tired and defiant.  She kept running around acting like a doofus.  I told her not to run in a store filled with glass bottles.  She ran anyway.  I told her again not to run and explained why.  She ran anyway.  I removed her from the store and she cried and told me she wants her grandma because her grandma is nice to her and I'm mean to her.  *sigh*  It was past her bedtime.

Then we came home and Bear got online.  Bunny went into Grandma's room to be spoiled some more.  I used my nose spray and then got online too.  I was sure to give Bear some looks that indicated that my heart was cracked.  He said he was sorry again.  Meh.

We put Bunny to bed.  I read a book to her about an owl who befriends a demented firefly... I forget the title.  I HATE this book.  The language is unnatural to my tongue and it gives my face a cramp when I read it.  It's worse than giving an hour long BJ.  No lie!  There are sentences in this book like, "'Yow wow!'", said the owl!", and, "Gus in his jar and his jar on the truck were moving.  Moving where?"  I really shouldn't put quotations around these sentences because I don't remember actual quotes... I'm just trying to convey how a book full of this crap would hurt one's face.  I HATE this book.

Then Bear read A Chair For My Mother, which Bunny loves, but it bores me stiff... And also Goodnight Gorilla.  Then he fell asleep.  So did Bunny.

Whew!  It's good to have those two out of my hair!  (For now.  I'll want them back again by morning.)

And now, lima beans.  Mmmm.

... In Other News...

I'm worried about my cat.  She's bad off.  Her baldness is more than just baldness now.  She has sores on her skin.  I'm going to take her to the vet next week.  The poor dear.
