Excellent advice all-around, tho a lot of it strikes me as common sense, but perhaps that's just a few years of perspective talking

Right--certain people may wish not to be contacted. But blanket request that you don't talk to anyone with the implication that they fell to the Dark Side? Run.

My faves are people who get in to vicious, expletive-drenched flame wars and then sign their e-mails with "8=3" after their names.
