I spent a few mins the other day looking for a card for my Dad.  My perfectionism makes picking out a card a pretty long process.  Since I'm currently trying to outsmart that trait, I chose to pick up the card while I was out with a friend.  I couldn't hold her up forever.  I didn't either.

This brought tears to my eyes. Be thankful that you still have your dad around to buy those cards for and cherish every moment. I lost mine a long time ago, and he instilled in me many of those same traits you enjoy from your dad. I guess we have to remember that even though we thought they should have been perfect when we were young, we realize, as adults, they are only human.

I agree. I sadly I don't remember when I found out my parents are human. I have finally gotten to a place where I can love and appreciate my parents for the people they are, not the people I want them to be.

Losing a parent is something that I haven't had to face, yet. Mine have chronic illnesses and could flare up at anytime. My father finally, after 8 years, went and got a physical. That was my mom's v-day gift.

Right now my dad is in the hospital. He has pneumonia. He was the one that asked to go in. That is major growth in my book. I saw him yesterday and he looked like shit. I told him that he looked like a man that needs to be in the hospital. Hopefully he will get out tomorrow. He is driving the nurses crazy. I think that means he feels a little better. I'll keep everyone posted.
