I am so sleepy today. N*** saved a body for me so when Rob got home last night I could watch/help. She wasn't too cooperative. He did a pre-injection and it didn't seem to help too much. She had sooooo much clots. I had never seen such a thing and my gosh it was nasty. It smelled horrible, too. I can deal with sight, but smell, ugh. It's something I have yet to get used to. I don't know what smells worse, the old clotted blood, or the stuff in their diapers if they are really old. She also was getting bloated with gas as she took in the fluid, so he tried to suction that out of her, and it was stinking up the place pretty bad. I kept asking N*** if he farted. :-D We watched the news and Leno as we worked. Well he did the work (and talked), I mostly watched, or cleaned instruments or hold a string. I did get to wash her hair a couple of times. I commented it would be funny to get a job as a shampoo girl in a salon and how they would react when I would write my experience in on the application. I could tell them, "I never had a client complain once!" hahaha...okay that was a bad joke. Sorry, I'm just tired, k?
I need coffee.
So total I've seen about 3-4 embalmings and I cannot figure out how the mortician can find the carotid artery and jugular vein. N*** has twice explained and described it to me as he does it, but when he cuts into the skin and looks in, it is just a mess of flesh to me inside. I'm sure after experience and actually having a class or book or something with descriptions and all that, it would come to me easier, but still, I worry I will have a hard time with that when it comes time for me to know it.
