I’ve been racking up the DW audio content lately - Big Finish Stories, audio books, commentary, you name it. Some of it has been awesome and some of it truly, truly awful. The Day of the Troll was definitely the latter.

Heh. Yes! I haven't been all that impressed with the BBC audio range but this one was dismal. Really dismal.

I've been immersing myself in Big Finish Audios as well - but sticking with the Classic Who plays rather than the audio books.

And judging by this review, I think I'll stay there :D

Actually, this isn't put out by Big Finish, it's a BBC Audio book that was commissioned by that division of the Beeb. Not that BF always hits it out of the park but, on the whole, I think they do a better job. I would LOVE to see what they could do with New Who but I doubt the BBC would give them the license to touch it when it has the potential to be such a moneymaker. As it is, they've cut back on what BF can do, like pulling their license for Short Trips. Sad.

Oh brother. That does sound difficult to enjoy!

Speaking of audios, have you listened to the New Eighth Doctor 4.01 yet? I meant to ask you awhile back in case I could babble at you about it. :)

I'd advise giving it a miss. Even listening to DT read wasn't enough to redeem it.

And yes! I have listened to 4.01. I'd love to natter about it, particularly since I'm conflicted. As usual. ;)

Do you belong to any of the audio discussion groups?

I went searching for audio discussion groups a few weeks ago and didn't find any that seemed active. Although hmm, that *was* before I listened to the very last Charley story, so maybe I was self-censoring. What do you recommend?

(I'm a bit conflicted myself btw.

Also SO EXCITED about more Five stories coming in the summer.)

I belong to a bunch and "inactive" seems to be the norm. I don't understand it because they come out fast and furious but maybe because they're not quite as accessible or widespread they don't get the same attention.

There is a specific Eight,Lucie comm as well as an Eight Doctor audio comm and a general Big Finish comm. I'd be happy to make a post there if you want to start a discussion. ;). We could be a Comm of Two!! If not, I can post something here. Once I figure out exactly what I want to say....
