Dear Quinn (and anyone else who'd like to join the tea-party!),

I've been telling stories for as long as I can remember. )

You hit the nail on the head. Our characters (even the borrowed ones) are indeed, living, breathing creatures. I once write a story where the woman's lover was knocking on the door, and I had no idea who he was or even what he looked like, but the moment he walked in hew was a full person, with a past, a present, a future and a fully-formed personality. I let my characters tell the story; I'm simply their medium and their facilitator.

When I write my characters simply come to me, and in some strange, rather magical way, I know everything about them without having to actually write out a backstory. I know what their lives were before they entered the story and I know what their lives will be after the story ends. There's something deep and mysterious and magical about the entire process.

I believe you're quite a talented writer. If you need any advice, or help, or just an editing/beta eye, don't hesitate to contact me. I've been writing professionally for over 30 years now, and I enjoy mentoring young writers.
