Lucy's grandparents have these nearly-transparent purple leaves on their bay windows. Apparently, they work wonders at preventing birds from flying into them (only one for each window necessary).

Do you have something red or brightly colored by the window? They may be attracted to it and then BAM! Really, if you're cruel and all, it can be a great way to commit birdicide without getting your hands dirty.
